Abstract:
An image reading device has an optical unit and a rail portion formed of sheet metal. The optical unit is scanned in the sub scanning direction to read an image on a document on a contact glass. The rail portion slidably supports the optical unit. The optical unit has a sliding portion which slides on the rail portion while making contact therewith, and at least one pair of gripping portions which grip the rail portion. The surface of the sliding portion has a substantially arc-shaped cross section. The rail portion has two inclined surfaces that make contact with the substantially arc-shaped surface at two points.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes: a transmitting glass; and a step member that is located upstream of a reading position, at which an image of a conveyed document is read by a reading unit via a transmitting glass, in a conveying direction of the document, and has a document guiding surface at a position away from a surface of a transmitting glass by a prescribed distance and forms a step between the document guiding surface and the transmitting glass. The step member is provided with a protrusion protruding downstream in the conveying direction of the document to form space between the transmitting glass and a downstream part of the step member in the conveying direction of the document.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus configured to reduce a force required for moving a document cover to an open position is provided. The image reading apparatus includes a document table having a top surface and a reading area and a document cover that is configured to pivot, around an axis extending in a first direction, between a closed position and an open position. The document cover includes a sheet. The top surface has a marginal area which is located outside of a reading area on a side opposite to the axis. The marginal area includes a contact area and a non-contact area which are arranged in the first direction. When the document cover is in the closed position, the top surface in the contact area contacts the sheet, and the top surface in the non-contact area does not contact the sheet.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus according to the invention includes a transparent member on which an original document is placed, a reading unit arranged below the transparent member, the reading unit being movable reciprocally in a reading direction of the original document, a spacer member arranged at the reading unit for maintaining a prescribed interval between the transparent member and the reading unit by contacting to the transparent member, and an electrostatic removing member arranged at a position close to the spacer member when the reading unit is positioned at a prescribed position.
Abstract:
A scanner is disclosed. The scanner has a flatbed glass and an ADF glass mounted to a top cover with a gap formed between the two glass pieces. The scanner has a scanner module that has an ADF scan position underneath the ADF glass and a flatbed scan position underneath the flatbed glass. When the scanner module is in the flatbed scan position the scanner module references the flatbed glass. The scanner module crosses the gap between the two glass pieces when the scanner module moves from the flatbed scan position to the ADF scan position. The scanner module is lowered away from the flatbed glass as the scanner module approaches and moves across the gap between the two glass pieces.
Abstract:
A document reader includes an image sensor. The image sensor is movable in a secondary scanning direction and rotatable about a rotational axis extending in a primary scanning direction, and obtains image information from a region facing a light-receiving surface. Rotation of the image sensor is controlled based on distance information about a distance between a document surface and a platen in such a manner as to make an image distance fall within a depth-of-field range of the image sensor.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes: a contact glass provided at an upper surface of a main body of the apparatus to set a manuscript thereon, an image sensor being positioned below the contact glass and having a reading surface on contact glass side for reading an image from the manuscript on the contact glass, a carriage supporting the image sensor accommodated in a sensor container formed to have a recess open to the contact glass side, a rail member slidably supporting the carriage, and a biasing member biasing the image sensor to the contact glass side via a biased portion adjacent to the reading surface of the image sensor. An upper end of the biasing member is positioned below the contact glass and above the lower surface of the image sensor.
Abstract:
An image reading device includes a document mounting plate having a mounting surface and a rear surface, and an image reading unit. The image reading unit includes a photoelectric converter facing the rear surface, a case to hold the photoelectric converter, and at least one first rotating member and at least one second rotating member that rotate and receive a pressing force from the rear surface of the document mounting plate as the image reading unit moves. The image reading unit also includes a holder configured to support the case and at least one urging device positioned between the holder and the case. The at least one urging device urges the case toward the rear surface, and exerts an urging force opposite to the pressing force, and balances against the pressing force.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes an apparatus body; a transport device that is openable and closable; an image reading unit disposed in one of the apparatus body and the transport device and reading an image of the document transported by the transport device; a member to be read that is disposed in the other of the apparatus body and the transport device at a position opposite the image reading unit when the transport device is closed, the member to be read being read by the image reading unit; and a control unit that causes the image reading unit to read the member to be read at a predetermined time, and if the transport device is open at the predetermined time, causes the image reading unit to read the member to be read when the document is transported by the transport device.
Abstract:
When a cover portion covers a document table, a document transporting unit is positioned relative to a reinforcing member in the horizontal direction so that the document transporting unit is movable in the vertical direction, and a first vertical positioning member comes into contact with the document table of a reading unit or the periphery thereof to position the document transporting unit in the vertical direction based on the position of the document table. A document height regulating member is positioned relative to the reinforcing member in the horizontal direction so as to be movable in the vertical direction, and a second vertical positioning member comes into contact with the document table to position a regulating member in the vertical direction based on the position of the document table.
