Abstract: The present technology monitors a web application provided by one or more services. A service may be provided by applications. The monitoring system provides end-to-end business transaction visibility, identifies performance issues quickly and has dynamical scaling capability across monitored systems including cloud systems, virtual systems and physical infrastructures. A method for communicating data between servers may detect by a first computer a request to a second computer. The request and a first name may be sent to the second computer by the first computer. Abstract: A cluster analysis feature is provided to monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues impacting a distributed business application. Performance trends of one or more tiers of applications may be monitored, analyzed, and reported. By monitoring and reporting performance issues for tiers of applications, valuable time is saved from to individually go through each application individually. Agents installed on individual applications may monitor the performance of applications, collect metrics, aggregate the metrics and report the metrics back to a server. Abstract: Clusters of log lines are identified based on log line templates. The log line templates are based on a punctuality pattern for a log line. Clusters of log lines that match each punctuality pattern can be identified based on comparisons between the log lines. The comparison may determine the similarity of the log lines and ultimately identify whether the log lines are close enough to be clustered. The comparison may be based on generated n-grams for the log lines and performing a hash on the n-grams. The resulting cluster information may be communicated to a user in an interface.

Abstract: The present technology may identify issues in network architectures, such as load balancers operating between machines that process a distributed business transaction, and automatically generate and apply policy updates to such machines. The present system monitors a distributed application through the applications processing the transaction as well as the network flows over which the machines communicate while processing the transaction. By monitoring the network flow and application, the system can tell when an anomaly is caused not by an application but by the network infrastructure itself. Portions of the network infrastructure, such as load balancers, may be singled out as a point of failure and automatically corrected. The failure may be a general degradation of performance or associated with the processing of a particular business transaction.

Abstract: A system tracks and reports contention between two or more threads for a resource in the course of performing a business transaction. Contention tracking, including an indication of whether a thread that is executing an application is waiting for a desired resource to be unlocked, is reported in the context of a business transaction handled by the particular thread that is using or waiting for resource. A resource may be any element that can be accessed or requested by a thread, including but not limited to an object, hardware component, database, or other resource. As a result, an entire view of the business transaction may be analyzed, including the time spent waiting for another resource to be available. Abstract: The present system uses quorum based aggregator failure detection in which a failed aggregator is detected and configured. Rather than repair and roll-up of all metrics for a period of time associated with the failed aggregator, only the specific metrics that were to be processed by the failed aggregator are repaired. Once the failed aggregator is identified, the time range for the downed aggregator and keys processed by the aggregator are identified. Keys for replica aggregators associated with the identified time ranges and key values are then pulled, provided to a batch processor, and processed. At cluster roll-up task completion, a time rollup task for cluster rollup is then started.
