Abstract: A method of processing functional OCT image data, acquired by an OCT scanner scanning a retina that is being repeatedly stimulated by a light stimulus, to obtain a response of the retina to the light stimulus, comprising: receiving OCT image data generated by the OCT scanner repeatedly scanning the retina over a time period, and a sequence of stimulus indicators each indicative of a stimulation of the retina by the light stimulus in a respective time interval of a sequence of time intervals spanning the time period; calculating, for each stimulus indicator, a product of the stimulus indicator and a respective windowed portion of the sequence of B-scans comprising a B-scan based on a portion of the OCT image data generated while the retina was being stimulated in accordance with the stimulus indicator; and combining the calculated products to generate the indication of the response.

Abstract: A medical imaging device comprising: an optical imaging module which generates an image of a region of a body part by acquiring image samples at respective sample locations in the region and mapping the samples to corresponding image pixels; a control module which controls the optical imaging module to acquire a first sequence of samples whose corresponding pixel locations follow a path which is spanned by pixels corresponding to the first sequence of samples and extends over a greater portion of the image than an arrangement in an array of a sequence of pixels corresponding to a second sequence of samples that the optical imaging module is operable to acquire, wherein a sum of distances between adjacent pixels in the sequence of pixels is equal to a length of the path; and a registration module which registers the image against a reference image.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system, and computer-readable medium, for determining a pathologic condition from a medical image of a portion of a subject. The method includes acquiring a plurality of lesion locations in the medical image; applying a clustering algorithm to the plurality of lesion locations to identify at least one lesion cluster and corresponding lesion cluster data; categorizing each lesion cluster into one of a set of predetermined categories based on the identified lesion cluster data; applying at least one function to the lesion cluster data with regard to each category of the set of predetermined categories, wherein the at least one function provides a fixed number of data outputs; and determining a pathologic condition by processing the fixed number of data outputs of each category of the set based on a classification algorithm trained on image data defining medical images of the portion of a plurality of subjects.

Abstract: A method of controlling an ophthalmic device operable to image an imaging region of a retina and concurrently illuminate an illumination region of the retina, the method including acquiring a reference retinal image by imaging a reference imaging area of the retina; designating a target in the reference retinal image; acquiring a current retinal image of an initial imaging region within the reference imaging area; moving the imaging region from the initial imaging region to a destination imaging region using the target and the reference retinal image, and acquiring a retinal image of the destination imaging region; illuminating the illumination region while the imaging region is the destination imaging region; acquiring one or more retinal images while the illumination module is being illuminated; and comparing a marker retinal image based on the one or more retinal image(s) with a comparison image based on the reference retinal image.

Abstract: Apparatus for illuminating the retina of an eye. The apparatus includes an illumination device and a lens system. The illumination device and the lens system combine to provide incident illumination from an apparent point source located within the lens system. The apparatus also includes an illumination transfer device. The illumination transfer device has two foci and the apparent point source of the lens system is provided at a first focus point of the illumination transfer device and an eye is accommodated at a second focus point of the illumination transfer device. The illumination transfer device transfers the incident illumination from the apparent point source into the eye to illuminate the retina.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer program instructions which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to process image data defining an image of a retina to determine a location of an anatomical feature of the retina in the image by receiving the image data; calculating, for each of a plurality of pixels of the image data, a respective local orientation vector indicative of the orientation of any blood vessel present in the image; calculating a normalized local orientation vector for each of the plurality of pixels; operating on an array of accumulators, wherein each accumulator in the array is associated with a respective pixel of the image data; and determining the location of the anatomical feature in the image of the retina using the location of a pixel of the image data which is associated with an accumulator having accumulated an accumulated value.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that can cause a processor to process image data defining an image of a vascular structure of temporal vascular arcades of a retina to estimate a location of the fovea of the retina in the image by transforming received image data such that the vascular structure in the image defined by the transformed image data is more circular than the vascular structure defined by the image data; calculating, for each of a plurality of pixels of the transformed image data, a respective local orientation vector indicative of the orientation of any blood vessel present in the image; calculating a normalised local orientation vector for each of the pixels; operating on an array of accumulators; and estimating the location of the fovea in the image of the retina using the location of a pixel of the transformed image data.
