Abstract: According to an aspect, a touch detection device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate opposed to the first substrate; a cover base material opposed to the second substrate; a plurality of first electrodes overlapping a display region on a plane parallel with the first substrate; and a second electrode arranged at the cover base material and overlapping a frame region outside the display region. Proximity or contact of an object with respect to the frame region is detected based on capacitance between the first electrodes and the second electrode. The second electrode extends along a side of the frame region.

Abstract: A performance of a display device having an input device is improved. A display device includes: an electro-optical layer; a first driving electrode and a second driving electrode which drives the electro-optical layer; a driver chip which outputs a video signal; a switch circuit which is arranged outside the driver chip, which selects a potential to be supplied to the second driving electrode, and which includes a first switch element and a second switch element; a shift register circuit connected to the switch circuit; and a detection circuit which detects that an object is close or in contact. Each of the first switch element and the second switch element is selectively turned ON or OFF by the shift register circuit. The detection circuit is electrically connected to the first switch element and the second switch element.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines intersecting with the gate lines, a plurality of pixel electrodes provided in areas defined by the gate lines and the data lines, and a sensor drive controller which includes a plurality of common electrodes facing the pixel electrodes and detects a touch by using the common electrodes. The sensor drive controller selects at least one of the common electrodes as a sensor electrode, detects a touch by using the sensor electrode, and inputs, to the other common electrodes, a guard signal for reducing generation of capacitance between the other common electrodes and the sensor electrode.

Abstract: An information input device including a touch panel configured to be provided with a touch sensor that detects a position at which a sensing object is brought close to a sensing surface. In this information input device, the touch sensor has a scanning electrode and a detecting electrode that is opposed to the scanning electrode with the intermediary of a dielectric substance, and is a capacitive sensor whose electrostatic capacitance changes if the sensing object is brought close to the detecting electrode. Abstract: A display device with a touch detection function including: a plurality of elements performing display operation; a plurality of touch detection electrodes arranged side by side to extend in one direction, and each outputting a detection signal based on a change in an electrostatic capacitance caused by an external proximity object; a conductive film insulated from or connected with high resistance to the touch detection electrodes, and disposed to cover the touch detection electrodes; and a touch detection circuit detecting the external proximity object by sampling the detection signal. The conductive film has a sheet resistance equal to or smaller than a predetermined resistance value, and has a time constant larger than a predetermined minimum time constant defined by sampling timings in the touch detection circuit.

Abstract: To provide a liquid crystal display device with a touch detection function in which any drive method can be adopted. The liquid crystal display device is provided with: a liquid crystal element arrangement that has a plurality of liquid crystal display elements arranged in a matrix shape; a plurality of scanning lines that are arranged in each row of the liquid crystal element arrangement, and supply scanning signals to a plurality of liquid crystal display elements arranged in a corresponding row; a plurality of signal lines that are arranged in each column of the liquid crystal element arrangement, and supply an image signal to a plurality of liquid crystal display elements arranged in a corresponding column; a plurality of touch detection drive electrodes which are arranged in a column of the liquid crystal element arrangement, and to which a drive signal for detecting a touch is supplied; and a touch control part that specifies a touch detection drive electrode from the a plurality of touch detection drive electrodes. Here, the drive signal is supplied to the touch detection drive electrode specified by the touch control part.

Abstract: A touch panel, a display panel, and a display unit achieving prevention of erroneous detection caused by external noise, are provided. The touch panel includes: a plurality of detection scan electrodes extending in a first direction; and a plurality of detection electrodes facing the plurality of detection scan electrodes and extending in a second direction which intersects the first direction. A ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between one or more selected detection scan electrodes and a first detection electrode is different from a ratio of fringe capacitance to total capacitance between the one or more selected detection scan electrodes and a second detection electrode. The one or more selected detection scan electrodes are selected, in a desired unit, from the plurality of detection scan electrodes, to be supplied with a selection pulse, and each of the first and the second detection electrodes is selected from the plurality of detection electrodes.
