    Abstract: Basket for a domestic centrifuge has a screen (2) having a finely perforated surface of revolution and comprising two annular reinforcing rings (3 and 4) disposed on the circular borders (5, 6). The screen (2) is of plastic material and the fine perforations (7, 10, 10') obtained by a process of mechanical cutting out. Thus the fine perforations (7, 10, 10') can be obtained by punching, or by cutting with a laser beam. The fine perforations (7, 10, 10') have borders with sharp edges that are directed radially inwardly, to assist in juicing. The plastic material is a polyester. The screen (2) of polyester has a wall thickness comprised between 0.15 mm and 0.30 mm.

    Abstract: A method and filter arrangement for filtering particle-contaminated liquid which is caused to spill onto the upper side of a filter 2. Spray pipes 4, equipped with nozzles 5, are rotatably mounted beneath the filter, and spray flushing liquid against the underside of the filter. A drainage channel 7, mounted above the filter surface, catches and directs some of the particle carrying liquid to the outlet 3. The drainage channel has an extended portion which forms a channel inlet and also functions as a splash guard.

    Abstract: A self-cleaning filter assembly for removing suspended matter from fluids, primarily utilized in irrigation or similar distribution systems, resulting in reduced maintenance of the filter assembly as well as the total system. The filter assembly comprises a container having at least one inlet aperture and at least one outlet aperture therethrough and a filter screen, comprising a hollow perforated body, inserted within the container. One end of a conduit is connected in fluid flow relationship to the inlet aperture of the container while the other end of the conduit terminates within the hollow body comprising the filter screen. The outlet aperture is so located that the fluid entering the container through the fluid inlet aperture and the conduit must pass through the filter screen before exiting the container through the outlet aperture.

    Abstract: A drainage system for expressing liquids and fluids from fibrous materials. The system includes a plurality of spaced apart compression elements each retained in juxaposition one to another so as to have a fluid escape slot between each adjacent compression element. Each compression element has a longitudinal passageway therethrough each having an inlet and an outlet which is inwardly tapered toward its outlet. The combination of passageways through each compression element forms a compression conduit whose inlet and outlet generally functionally coincide with the intake and exit, respectively, of the drainage system. The fibrous material to be expressed is introduced into the system's intake under pressure, the fibrous material being compressed as it is forcably urged through each tapered passageway, the expressed fluids exiting the compression conduit radially outwardly through fluid escape slots. The slots, which may be dynamically variable in width, are sized to facilitate fluid escape or discharge, but to contain the fibrous material within the compression conduit. The preferred embodiment of the shape of each taper is a truncated cone whose nominal diameter may also vary along the length of the compression conduit to prevent build-up and cloging of the fibrous material as it passes through the drainage system. This concept of fluid discharge slot variability during operation is also applied to improvements in conventional screw press cage screen bars.

    Abstract: A large diameter pipeline strainer has a body with a central chamber and an axially aligned inlet and outlet a lateral opening covered by a removable cover plate to allow removal and replacement of a strainer element mounted in the chamber. The strainer has first and second perforated conical sheet metal walls with an outer wall tapering from the inlet toward the outlet and an inner wall tapering from the outlet back to an apex at the inlet. The strainer is positioned by an annular bead at the inlet sealing against the body at the inlet and fitted within an annular groove formed in both the body and the cover.
