Abstract: An arrangement for introducing gas bubbles into a liquid, a device for fastening a perforated aeration membrane to an aerator base plate, and an aerator base plate therefor. The aerator base plate has an undercut groove in at least one rim region thereof, into which a locking body clamping the membrane in the groove fits clampingly. The locking body has a generally circular cross-section. The groove has an at least substantially oval cross-section. The locking body is designed to be generally cylindrical.

Abstract: A multi-disc air diffuser according to the present invention comprises a bolt having a vent groove formed in a longitudinal direction thereof; a plurality of discs, each of the discs having a bolt joint section to be passed through the bolt, an air room for holding the air supplied through the vent groove, and a nozzle section having a plurality of nozzles which are arranged in an end part of the air room at a regular size and intervals, wherein the lower surface of each of the discs is more than the upper surface thereof and the outer circumference surface of each of the discs is formed to be inclined; and a backflow prevention section for joining to an end part of the bolt to adhere closely the discs to one another, connecting the vent groove to an air supply pipe, and having a check valve to prevent the air flowing backward from the vent groove to the air supply pipe.

Abstract: An aeration and microbial reactor system for use in decontaminating water including a housing adapted to float within the medium such that a top portion thereof remains adjacent a top surface of the contaminated water while the bioreactor containing inoculated carrier media is attached below. Beneficial microbial populations thrive and spread throughout the liquid medium, and consume or fix the contaminant such that the contaminant is removed from the water.

Abstract: Wastewater is treated by providing a distribution conduit and providing a diffuser assembly. An aperture is created in the distribution conduit having an initial minimum diameter. The diffuser assembly, in turn, comprises a diffuser membrane in fluidic communication with a mating tube. The mating tube has an initial outside diameter at a location along its length greater than the initial minimum inside diameter of the aperture. The mating tube is inserted into the aperture until the location on the mating tube that, before insertion, had the initial outside diameter is encircled by the aperture where the aperture, before insertion, had the initial minimum inside diameter. This forms an airtight interference fit between the distribution conduit and diffuser assembly.

Abstract: An aeration system for a submerged membrane module has a set of aerators connected to an air blower, valves and a controller adapted to alternately provide a higher rate or air flow and a lower rate of air flow in repeated cycles. In an embodiment, the air blower, valves and controller, simultaneously provide the alternating air flow to two or more sets of aerators such that the total air flow is constant, allowing the blower to be operated at a constant speed. In another embodiment, the repeated cycles are of short duration. Transient flow conditions result in the tank water which helps avoid dead spaces and assists in agitating the membranes.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for treating a body of water, without the necessity of being connected to an electrical grid, that includes photovoltaic collectors and a battery bank that is charged by the photovoltaic collectors. The photovoltaic collectors and the battery bank operate a series of air pumps that are connected to an air pump manifold to create a uniform source of compressed air that is distributed to a plurality of floating diffuser manifolds. A plurality of air stones are suspended under the floating diffuser manifolds that create air bubbles that are absorbed by the body of water and circulate said body of water to disburse a microbial fluid. In addition, an incubator system is also connected to an air pump that incubates microbes to form a microbial fluid that can be automatically dispersed throughout the body of water.

Abstract: A flexible diffuser membrane for diffusing gas into a liquid includes a substrate covered wholly or partially by a thin fluorocarbon elastomer coating. The coating is applied after the substrate has been fully constructed and cured. The coating is then mixed with an adhesive catalyst and applied by spraying or in another suitable manner to the substrate. The substrate and coating are then heated to a temperature such as 350° F.-800° F. adequate to form a strong chemical, molecular, and adhesive bond between the coating and substrate. Perforations are formed in the membrane, the substrate may be treated with a biocide allowing the uncoated edges of the perforations to be coated with the biocide and resist biological growth.
