Abstract:
Polymeric additives comprising a diene-modified mono-olefinic backbone polymer functionalized with chlorosulfonyl isocyanate and post-reacted with a nitrogen compound. The additives impart combined detergent, viscosity index improvement and other useful properties to lubricating oils and hydrocarbon motor fuels.
Abstract:
Oil soluble combinations of (A) ethylene polymer or copolymer, (B) a second polymer having alkyl side chains of 6 to 30 carbon atoms, and derived from carboxylic acid esters and/or olefins, and (C) nitrogen compounds, such as amides, amine salts and ammonium salts, of carboxylic acids or anhydrides, are useful in improving the cold flow properties of distillate hydrocarbon fuel oils.
Abstract:
Oil soluble ethylene-vinyl ester copolymers having a M.sub.n less than about 4000 in combination with an oil soluble polyester material, such as a homopolymer or copolymer, comprising at least 10% by weight C.sub.14 to C.sub.16 substantially straight-chain alkyl esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid, are useful in improving the cold flow properties of distillate hydrocarbon oils.
Abstract:
A COMPOSITION CONSISTING ESSENTIALLY OF A TRIVALENT CHROMIUM SALT OF AN ORGANIC PHOSPHATE, A NITROGEN CONTAINING COPOLYMER AND AN AMINE NEUTRALIZED ALKYL PHOSPHATE INCREASES THE CONDUCTIVITY OF LIQUID HYDROCARBONS AND PREVENTS ACCUMULATION OF STATIC CHARGE IN HYDROCARBON FUELS AND SOLVENTS.
Abstract:
A method of reducing the shear degradation when pumping through conduits, such as well tubing during hydraulic fracturing operations and pipelines, a liquid containing a friction loss reducing additive comprising adding to the liquid the friction loss reducing additive at least partially in chunk or granular form so that the additive is present at least partially in chunk or granular form when the mixture is passed through the pump.
Abstract:
LIQUID HYDROCARBON COMPOSITIONS ARE PROVIDED CONTAINING, IN AN AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO IMPART ANTI-STATIC PROPERTIES, THE REACTION PRODUCT OF AN AMINE AND A METHYL VINYL ETHER-MALEIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMER.
Abstract:
OIL-SOLUBLE POLYMERS OF UNSATURATED ESTERS HAVING AKYL SIDE CHAINS CONTAINING ABOUT 18 TO 34 CARBON ATOMS IMPROVE FLOW AND POUR POINTS OF HIGH WAX CONTENT PETROLEUM OILS SUCH AS CRUDES, RESIDUA, ETC., AND ARE USEFUL AS DEWAXING ACIDS.
Abstract:
WHERE ''''R1'''' is H or CH3 and ''''R2'''' is an alkyl group of eight to 18 carbon atoms, a glycol and water. The method comprises mixing the emulsion with the hydrocarbon fluid and then adding a lower alkyl alcohol which causes the polymer to be transferred from the emulsion phase to a hydrocarbon solution.
This disclosure is directed to a method and composition useful in reducing the friction loss in flowing hydrocarbon fluids. The composition is an emulsion consisting essentially of a homopolymer or copolymer of

Abstract:
THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES OIL-SOLUBLE, POLYMERIC SURFACE-ACTIVE AGENTS WHICH ARE POLYIMIDE-AMINE SALTS OF STYRENE-MALEIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMERS HAVING PENDANT TERTIARY AMINE GROUPS CONTAINING A SALT-FORMING TERTIARY NITROGEN ATOM NEUTRALIZED TO THE EXTENT OF AT LEAST ABOUT 75 PERCENT WITH MON-CARBOXYLIC ACIDS FOR INSTANCE HAVING AN ALIPHATIC CHAIN OF AT LEAST ABOUT 8 CARBON ATOMS. THE SALTS OF THIS INVENTION EXHIBIT THE PROPERTY OF LOWERING THE SURFACE TENSION AT OIL-WATER INTERFACES. THE POLYIMIDEAMINE SALTS CAN ALSO CONTAIN MIXED IMIDES RESULTING FROM THE REACTION OF DIALKYLAMINOALKYLAMINES AND MONOALKYL AMINES OR MIXED IMIDE-AMIDES RESULTING FROM THE REACTION OF DIALKYLAMINOALKYLAMES AND DIALKYLAMINES. THIS INVENTION ALSO PROVIDES OIL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING MINERAL OIL AND THE OIL-SOLUBLE, POLYMERIC SURFACE-ACTIVE POLYIMIDE-AMINE SALTS, WITH OR WITHOUT WATER. THESE COMPOSITIONS ARE USEFUL, FOR INSTANCE, AS HYDRAULIC FLUIDS, JET FUELS, ELECTROLYTE-CONTAINING OILS, ANTI-WEAR LUBRICATING OILS, DIESEL FUELS, AND GASOLINES.
