Abstract:
The invention relates to yarns and fabrics containing nylon staple fiber and high-tenacity man-made cellulosic staple fiber, and garments made therefrom, and has particular reference to fabrics having a high resistance to wear whilst retaining a high comfort level.
Abstract:
A woven structure includes at least two woven walls (11, 12) connected to one another by at least one unattached binding thread (13). The variation of the length between two consecutive sinkers of the at least one binding thread (13), each of the sinkers corresponding to a riser by a weft thread of a different wall (11, 12), is continuous on at least one portion of the structure in the direction of the warp and/or in the direction of the weft. This structure can be applied to the fields of aviation, shipping, household furnishings, and automobiles.
Abstract:
A woven or knitted fabric, formed from two types of yarns different in self-elongating property upon absorbing water and capable of facilitating the air-permeability when wetted with water, is constituted so that a ratio A/B of a mean length A of yarns (1) having a high water-absorbing, self-elongating property to a mean length B of yarns (2) arranged in the same direction as that of the yarn (1) and having a lower water-absorbing, self-elongating property than that of the yarn (1) is adjusted to 0.9 or less.

Abstract:
A sewn product comprises fabrics having conductive yarns inserted each in a warp direction and a weft direction and disposed in a lattice at intervals, wherein at least two stitches in at least one place of seam are provided with a stitch interval of not more than 5 mm, and a surface resistance (R) between two points separated by 30 cm across at least one seam is according to the formula: R≦1.0×1012Ω. A sewn product comprises fabrics having conductive yarns inserted each in a warp direction and a weft direction and disposed in a lattice at intervals, wherein in at least one place of seam a number of piles of clothing fabrics of seam allowance is 5 or more, and a surface resistance (R) between two points separated by 30 cm across at least one seam is R≦1.0×1012Ω.
Abstract:
A mostly cotton yarn terry cloth product is provided with borders having high content polyester yarns. The polyester borders are more rugged, and thus aid in preventing fraying and failure along the edges. In addition, reinforcing ribs, also formed from yarns have a high polyester content, may be provided that extend from a border on one side of the terry cloth product to a border on the other side. This feature anchors the borders in place, limiting failure at the juncture of the border and the adjacent cotton.
Abstract:
A fabric for bedding which includes a woven fabric having warp yarns and filling yarns woven to provide a smooth fabric surface. One of the warp or filling yarns being at least 40% by weight of the fabric of continuous filament nylon, and the other of the warp or filling yarns being from about 0% to 60% by weight of the fabric of continuous filament polyester or nylon having non-round filament cross sections. An antimicrobial substance is topically applied or inherently available in the fabric.
Abstract:
An article of apparel is disclosed that includes a textile with at least one property that changes upon exposure to a physical stimulus. The textile has a modifiable structure formed from one or more yarns that exhibit a dimensional transformation upon exposure to the physical stimulus. The yarns have a first set of dimensions when unexposed to the physical stimulus, and the yarns have a second set of dimensions when exposed to the physical stimulus. The structure of the textile is modified by exposing the textile to the physical stimulus such that the yarns transform from the first set of dimensions to the second set of dimensions and change the property of the textile. Reinforcing structures, incisions, partial incisions, and coatings may also be utilized to enhance the textile structures.
Abstract:
A union fabric comprising 6 to 60% by weight of a polyester fiber (A), 35 to 85% by weight of a halogen-containing fiber (B), and 5 to 55% by weight of a cellulose fiber (C) in which fabric the warp comprises weaving yarn containing the polyester fiber and the weft comprises flameproof chenille yarn and other weaving yarn, with the chenille yarn containing 10 to 70% by weight of halogen and 1 to 35% by weight of a flame retardant consisting of a metal compound, and in which fabric the content of the warp-constituting weaving yarn containing the polyester fiber is 20 to 40% by weight and those of the weft-constituting flameproof chenille yarn and the weft-constituting other weaving yarn are 35 to 70% by weight and 10 to 45% by weight respectively. This union fabric is excellent in design, texture, comfortableness in use.
Abstract:
An article of apparel is provided for determining location information via a global positioning system and transmitting the location information to a remote location. The article of apparel comprises a fabric web having at least one yarn of wire formed within the fabric web. The yarn of wire forms an antenna for receipt and transmission of radio frequency signals. A GPS receiver is interconnected to the antenna, wherein the GPS receiver determines a location of the article of apparel via a global positioning system. A transmitter is provided to transmit the location of the article of apparel determined by the GPS receiver. A power supply is interconnected to the GPS receiver and the transmitter.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a fabric useful in apparel and garments comprising an intimate blend of staple fibers, the blend of fibers comprising 55 to 95 parts by weight of a polypyridobisimidazole fiber having an inherent viscosity of greater than 20 dl/g and a tensile modulus of greater than 120 GPa (820 gpd); and 5 to 45 parts by weight of a flexible fiber having a tensile modulus of less than 10 GPa (70 gpd).
