Abstract:
A speech recognition engine is provided voice data indicative of at least a brand of a target appliance. The speech recognition engine uses the voice data indicative of at least a brand of the target appliance to identify within a library of codesets at least one codeset that is cross-referenced to the brand of the target appliance. The at least one codeset so identified is then caused to be provisioned to the controlling device for use in commanding functional operations of the target appliance.
Abstract:
A pillow remote controller using acoustic commands includes a pillow defining an open interior compartment configured for housing one or more pressure sensors electrically and operably coupled with an electronics enclosure. The electronics enclosure contains various electronic components including a power control and alarm circuit, an audio receive, de-code and function command circuit, a transmitter selector and interface circuit, and various transmitters for transmitting an operating function to an electronic product. The electronics are operable for receiving an acoustic command, de-coding the acoustic command, and providing a function command to the transmitter selector and interface circuit. The function command is interfaced with a particular type of transmitter and transmitted optically or wirelessly to the electronic product. One or more human presence sensors may be operably coupled with the power control and alarm circuit to provide an assurance of human presence before enabling operation.
Abstract:
A method for controlling an electronic apparatus which uses voice recognition, and an electronic apparatus applying the same are provided. The method includes, in response to a voice start command being input through a first microphone included in the electronic apparatus, converting a mode of the electronic apparatus to a first voice task mode and displaying a first icon corresponding to the first voice task mode; in response to the voice start command being input through a second microphone included in a remote control device, converting the mode of the electronic apparatus to a second voice task mode and displaying a second icon corresponding to the second voice task mode; displaying voice guide information; and in response to a user voice being input while the voice guide information is displayed, displaying a list including a plurality of items related to the user voice.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, history-based key phrase suggestions are provided for voice control of a home automation system. A host controller builds a history database that maintains a history of events, each event indicating one or more services activated, one or more scenes activated or one or more types of media content presented by the home automation system. A predictions process on the host controller selects a subset of the events of the history database based on a present condition of the home automation system to produce a predication dataset. A grammar process on a remote control or mobile device selects one or more intentions from a list used by a voice recognition engine, based on the prediction dataset. Each intention includes a key phrase paired with an action. A voice user interface (UI) process suggests key phrases from the one or more selected intentions in a voice control UI on the remote control or mobile device.
Abstract:
An operating method of a display device is provided. The method includes: recognizing, by the display device, a user's function control voice for controlling a function of a peripheral device; controlling, by the display device, the peripheral device to perform a function corresponding to the recognized function control voice in the peripheral device through a remote control device; and providing, by the display device, a control state of the peripheral device representing that the function corresponding to the recognized function control voice is performed in the peripheral device.
Abstract:
An apparatus may include an ear piece housing, an intelligent control disposed within the ear piece housing, and a transceiver disposed within the ear piece housing and operatively connected to the intelligent control. An apparatus may further include a microphone operatively connected to the intelligent control, a speaker operatively connected to the intelligent control, and a sensor operatively connected to the intelligent control. An apparatus is adapted to receive input from the microphone and/or the sensor and communicate the input through the transceiver to an electronic device in operative communication with the transceiver.
Abstract:
A method for making a purchase from an electronic device using an ear piece may include receiving audio information at a microphone of an ear piece, wherein the ear piece is made of a housing and a short range transceiver disposed within the ear piece. The method may further include wirelessly communicating information from the ear piece to the electronic device through the short range transceiver of the ear piece. The method is designed to allow using the electronic device to initiate a purchase based on the information from the ear piece.
Abstract:
A remote control device includes a digital audio storage device, a talk button, and an optical distance measurer. The digital audio storage device is configured to continually record an audio input for a specific amount of time. The talk button is coupled to the digital audio storage device and is configured to initiate a transmission of the audio input to a set-top box device. The optical distance measurer is coupled to the talk button and is configured to automatically measure a distance to a user in response to the talk button being pressed.
Abstract:
A display apparatus includes a display which displays a plurality of items, a communicator which receives a pointing signal from a remote control apparatus, a recognizer which recognizes at least one of a voice command and a gesture, and a processor which selects one item among the plurality of items based on at least one of the pointing signal and the gesture, and in response to receiving the voice command regarding the selected one item, performs a control operation based on a keyword extracted to execute the voice command.
Abstract:
A device may receive, from a peripheral device, information for controlling the peripheral device. The information for controlling the peripheral device may include information identifying a voice command associated with the peripheral device and information identifying a function corresponding to the voice command. The device may receive, from a user, the voice command. The device may cause the peripheral device to perform the function based on receiving the voice command.
