Abstract:
Methods, devices, and systems for the transmission of information in a wireless communication system are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for the transmission of information in a wireless communication system comprises receiving a downlink message, wherein the downlink message includes a first control channel element; determining a first index using the location of the first control channel element; determining a second index; determining a first orthogonal resource using the first index; determining a second orthogonal resource using the second index; spreading an uplink message using the first orthogonal resource to form a first spread signal; spreading the uplink message using a second orthogonal resource to form a second spread signal; transmitting the first spread signal using a first antenna; and transmitting the second spread signal using a second antenna.
Abstract:
An adaptable orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing system (OFDM) that uses a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) to having OFDM signals transmitted either in accordance with time diversity to reducing signal fading or in accordance with spatial diversity to increase the data rate. Sub-carriers are classified for spatial diversity transmission or for time diversity transmission based on the result of a comparison between threshold values and at least one of three criteria. The criteria includes a calculation of a smallest eigen value of a frequency channel response matrix and a smallest element of a diagonal of the matrix and a ratio of the largest and smallest eigen values of the matrix.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention provides a wireless station (STA) capable of implicit feedback in a wireless local area network, comprising at least one power amplifier, a plurality of antennas capable of being connected with said at least one power amplifier, and a switch capable of switching the connection between said plurality of antennas and said at least one power amplifier thereby enabling said wireless station to sound a complete channel matrix for an access point (AP) in communication with said wireless station (STA).
Abstract:
A method for communication includes, in a transmitter having a first number of transmit antenna ports, setting an upper limit on a second number of spatial layers to be used by the transmitter to be less than the first number. An actual number of the spatial layers, which does not exceed the upper limit, is allocated for transmission to a given receiver. One or more streams of modulated symbols are mapped onto the allocated actual number of the spatial layers. The actual number of the spatial layers are transmitted from the transmitter to the given receiver.
Abstract:
An apparatus for transmitting data in a base station of a wireless communication system that transmits data depending on channel status information fed back from terminals and uses a plurality of antennas. Based on the channel status information, a scheduler determines a terminal to which the base station will transmit data, determines antennas via which the base station will transmit data among the plurality of antennas, and determines a space pre-coding method. A multiplexer multiplexes transmission data into a plurality of data streams according to the number of the determined antennas. A modulation and coding unit performs modulation and coding on each of the data streams. A pre-coding controller outputs a matrix select signal for selecting one of a plurality of space pre-coding matrixes according to the space pre-coding method. A space pre-coder spatial-codes each of the coded streams with the matrix selected based on the matrix select signal. An OFDM modulator performs OFDM modulation on each of the spatial-coded streams. An RF unit transmits each of the OFDM-modulated streams via an associated antenna.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving an ExtendedChannelInfo message. The method comprises broadcasting the ExtendedChannelInfo message over a Forward Traffic Channel Medium Access Control (MAC); transmitting the ExtendedChannelInfo message in superframes, wherein the superframe number is divisible by NOMPExtendedChannelInfo; delivering the ExtendedChannelInfo message in one superframe or in a set of consecutive superframes; and determining if the transmission of the ExtendedChannelInfo message begins in superframe n and spans k superframe. The ExtendedChannelInfo message is transmitted and received over a communication link.
