Abstract:
A method for communicating uncompressed HD information includes a transmitter configured to send over wireless channels data-packets and a receiver configured to receive the data-packets from the transmitter. The wireless receiver includes decoders configured to decode the data-packets and an ACK-processor configured to aggregate and send acknowledge signals having an ACK signal for at least one subpacket from the previous packet and ACK signals for all but the at least one subpacket from the current packet. The transmitter may resend a subpacket of the data-packets corresponding to ACK signals in the second status received from the receiver. The new partially delayed ACK mechanism can substantially improve the system throughput for systems with parallel multiple decoders.
Abstract:
A method and system for wireless communication of different information types over a wireless channel, is provided. Information comprising different information types is formed into a composite aggregation of the different information types, and the composite aggregation is transmitted from a sender to a receiver over a wireless channel. A composite acknowledgement (ACK) format is utilized by the receiver to reduce the overhead in low-rate channels.
Abstract:
In the method, a receiver receives an indication of if the maximum number of sub-packet transmissions for conveying a data packet from a transmitter to the receiver has taken place. If the receiver has not properly received the data packet over a channel when this indication is received, then the receiver sends a non-acknowledgement response that causes the transmitter to re-schedule and re-send the data packet.
Abstract:
A network includes a TCP-in-TCP tunnel between a mobile device, which includes a TCP client and a gateway, and a TCP server, which resides in a subnet. Another gateway in the subnet receives and caches TCP packets and acknowledgments (ACKs) from the TCP-in-TCP tunnel. In response to receiving an indication from the TCP server that it has not received a cached TCP packet, the second gateway may resend the packet without relaying the indication to the TCP client, and the first gateway may send a control message instead of a complete TCP packet to the second gateway.
Abstract:
A method transmits information in a communication system. The method includes transmitting information from a transmitting device to a receiving device through a communication channel, checking whether the receiving device has received the information without errors, and transmitting an acknowledgement notification from the receiving device to the transmitting device if the receiving device has received the information without errors. The acknowledgement notification includes an indication of a capability of the receiving device to receive further information from the transmitting device.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are directed to methods and systems for providing efficient, scalable and reliable transport of large media files to multiple receivers over digital video broadcast (DVB) standards-based broadcast networks. Transport Reliability is achieved using Forward Error Correction (FEC) and a selective, Negative Acknowledgement (NACK) mechanism over an IP-based unicast feedback path. Out-of-band command and control messages over DVB network are used for initiation and coordination between sender and receivers.
Abstract:
A slot format and acknowledgment method for use in a communication network that contains one or more wireless links. The slot format provides for the segmenting and reassembly of packets for transport over a wireless link. It also provides support for multiple types of service for the data being carried over the wireless link as well as allocating of access to the wireless link among a plurality of communication units. The acknowledgment method provides for detection of errors over the wireless link, the selective acknowledgment of error-free transmissions and the selective resending of transmissions received in error.
Abstract:
Access control based on CSMA is favorably carried out with the RTS/CTS method used together. If the RTS/CTS procedure is used together, CTS information is transmitted in response to the reception of RTS information, and data is transmitted in response to the reception of CTS. The CTS transmitting station measures the quality of RTS receive signal, and thereby determines a transmission rate at which it can receive and notifies a station as the destination of CTS. The station as the destination of CTS transmits data in response to CTS information. As the transmission rate for this data, the transmission rate indicated in the RATE field in CTS is applied.
Abstract:
A communication control method that controls packet communication between a transmitting communication apparatus and a receiving communication apparatus. The method includes the steps of: transmitting to the receiving communication apparatus from the transmitting communication apparatus a plurality of packets in a consecutive manner; and when packets of the plurality of packets transmitted from the transmitting communication apparatus to the receiving communication apparatus are consecutively lost, reporting to the transmitting communication apparatus from the receiving communication apparatus the number of the consecutively lost packets.
Abstract:
A method and system for improving interoperability of a radio network controller and a base station in cellular systems with downlink congestion control is disclosed. A message is sent from a base station to a radio network controller after the base station has discarded at least one transport block. The message sent to the radio network controller may be forwarded by the radio network controller to additional radio network controllers serving users affected by the discard of the at least one transport block.
