Abstract:
A CHD reactor is modified to include a feed nozzle arrangement which hydrogen-saturates the charged liquid before distribution across the fixed catalyst bed by a pair of gas/liquid distributor trays. Product is recovered from the catalyst bed through an apparatus arrangement comprising Glitsch grid to maintain low pressure drop in the system.
Abstract:
A fluids spraying assembly for use with pressure vessels, the assembly being adapted to permit the spraying head to be retracted for inspection and replaced in spraying use without leakages of gases from the pressure vessel.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for feeding powdered coal from a helical ramp into a high pressure, heated, reactor tube containing hydrogen for hydrogenating the coal and/or for producing useful products from coal. To this end, the helical ramp is vibrated to feed the coal cleanly at an accurately controlled rate in a simple reliable and trouble-free manner that eliminates complicated and expensive screw feeders, and/or complicated and expensive seals, bearings and fully rotating parts.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a device which allows to introduce a substance from a chamber A, having a pressure P1, into a chamber B, having a pressure P2 higher than P1, said device comprising a stator, in which the pressure is that of the chamber B and in which rotates a rotor formed by a chamber V at the pressure P1, said rotor comprising a central opening through which is introduced the product coming from the chamber A, and a peripheral slot adapted to be opened, under the thrust produced by the material collected in the rotor chamber V and subjected to centrifugal force, in order to let said material run through the slot, into the stator.
Abstract:
A gasification process in which gasification of lump size gas producing material, such as coal, is carried out under high pressure on a fixed-bed principle with a continuous feed of coal particles thereto, the continuous feed being accomplished by feeding coal of an appropriate particle size range into a volume of liquid within a first confinement path through a free surface thereof exposed to atmospheric conditions, collecting successive incremental volumes of particles and entrained liquid and transferring them into a liquid within a second circuitous confinement path maintained under pressure by virtue of the exposure of the free surface of a volume thereof with the gasification pressure conditions, conveying the particles of the incremental volumes communicated with the second path through a pumping action upstream of the particle communication therewith, collecting the particles in the volume and moving them upwardly through the free surface thereof into the gasification zone.
Abstract:
An intensifier system for supplying catalyst to a polyolefin reactor wherein the pressure of the olefin is applied to a vessel containing a hydraulic fluid with a pump submerged in the hydraulic fluid, and the pump pressurizes one end of a free piston cylinder to force catalyst from the other end of the cylinder into the reactor. An identical system supplies catalyst to the reactor while the first system is being recharged. Recharging of the system is accomplished by relieving the pressure in the vessel to a low pressure, and applying an intermediate pressure to force catalyst from a catalyst storage container into the catalyst end of the free piston cylinder, thereby causing the hydraulic fluid to flow from the cylinder back into the vessel.
Abstract:
An apparatus for introducing materials into and removing materials from a hermetically sealed vessel without destroying the hermetic integrity of the vessel comprising; a container defining a chamber therein which chamber communicates between the vessel and an environment having a dissimilar pressure, four valve means each operatively connected to the container and communicating between the interior and exterior thereof, and means for cyclically actuating said valve means so that the pressure within the vessel before the materials are transferred between the container and the vessel, and the pressure within the chamber is equalized to said dissimilar pressure before the materials are transferred between the container and said dissimilar pressure environment.
