Abstract:
A powder feed device for supplying a powder dispensing apparatus such as a powder spray gun of an electrostatic powder deposition system. Entrained powder is extracted from a fluidization tank and transported through a half-inch diameter tube or hose to the dispensing apparatus. To prevent clumps of powder and/or powder adhering to the walls of the tube or hose while permitting reduced air flow speed of about 2 to 3 m/s an electric field is provided in the tube or hose and applied by an outer conductor extending around the tube or hose and an inner wire conductor inside the tube or hose extending in the direction of the flow of entrained powder, which conductors are connected across an AC voltage source. The electric field may operate constantly or intermittently.
Abstract:
An apparatus for coating articles or the like by means of electrostatically charged particles comprising at least two electrodes associated with an atomizer nozzle for these particles and a regulatable or controllable high-voltage generator for delivering a respective potential of different magnitude but the same sign to both electrodes. A stabilizing stage is provided between the high-voltage generator and the electrodes, this stage maintaining constant the potential difference between the electrodes at a predetermined value over the entire regulation range of the operating voltage of the high-voltage generator with regard to the articles.
Abstract:
A protective device preventing the transformation of a corona discharge into a spark discharge in electrical apparatus, particularly, in electrostatic painting apparatus, consists of a multielectrode gas discharge tube having a control grid which through a starting unit is connected to pickups or sensing elements controlling the operating current. The multielectrode gas discharge tube which may be a thyratron has a keep-live electrode. A comparison unit having a source of reference voltage is connected through a contact of a time relay to the keep-live electrode.
