Abstract: Power management system for a container-handling vehicle, with a rechargeable power source, for handling storage containers in an automated storage/retrieval system includes a charging station for recharging the rechargeable power source of the container-handling vehicle, a power supply for delivering power to the storage system, a power monitoring device coupled to the power supply, and a control system for controlling the operation of the automated storage/retrieval system. The power monitoring device monitors available power from the power source entering the automated storage/retrieval system and communicate a signal to the control system indicative of the available power. The control system is responsive to that signal and manages power consumption through modifying the operation of the container-handling vehicle and/or the charging station to reduce power consumption of the respective container-handling vehicle and/or the charging station in the event that the signal indicates that the available power has dropped below a threshold level.

Abstract: A remotely operated vehicle assembly for an automated storage and retrieval system moves a product item between a storage container stored in an automated storage and retrieval grid configured to store a plurality of stacks of storage containers, and target containers. The remotely operated vehicle assembly includes a first vehicle including a vehicle body and a wheel arrangement connected to the vehicle body configured to move the remotely operated vehicle along a rail system of the automated storage and retrieval system; and a picking system for moving the product item. The first vehicle includes a container lifting device configured to carry a first target container. The vehicle assembly further includes a second vehicle including a vehicle body and a wheel arrangement connected to the vehicle body configured to move the remotely operated vehicle along a rail system of the automated storage and retrieval system. The second vehicle includes a container lifting device configured to carry a second target container. A bar system mechanically connects the vehicles of the vehicle assembly to each other. The picking system is connected to the bar system. The picking system is configured to move the product item from the storage container to one of the first or second target container.

Abstract: A station for providing access to contents in a storage container of an automated storage and retrieval system comprising:—an access barrier comprising an opening, and a plurality of covers, wherein each cover is arranged to be selectively deployed to close off a respective portion of the opening;—a loading mechanism arranged to receive the storage container and move it to the opening of the access barrier; and—a housing which is able to prevent access to the opening of the access barrier; wherein the station (10) is arranged to transition between;—a loading configuration in which access to the opening of the access barrier is prevented by the housing, and—an access configuration in which the opening of the access barrier is presented to thereby enable access to contents of the storage container through the opening. The station is configured to deploy the covers to close off predetermined portions of the opening prior to transition into the access configuration to thereby restrict or permit access to contents of the storage container through predetermined portions of the opening.

Abstract: The invention relates to a mobile storage system having a mobile container with an automated storage and retrieval system arranged inside. The automated storage and retrieval system has a storage grid structure having vertical members defining multiple columns, such as storage columns for storing storage bins on top of each other in vertical stacks. The vertical members are interconnected at their upper ends by a first rail system arranged to guide at least one bin handling vehicle thereon. The bin handling vehicle is configured to raise storage bins from, and lower storage bins into, the storage columns, and to transport the storage bins above the storage columns. The invention also relates to a method for providing such a system. The invention also relates to a mobile storage system having a plurality of mobile containers connected together and a method for providing such a system.
