Abstract: Aspects of a method and apparatus for converting an analog input value to a digital output code are provided. One embodiment of the apparatus includes a digital-to-analog converter, a comparator, and control logic circuitry. The digital-to-analog converter is configured to generate an analog reference value based on a received digital reference value. The comparator is configured to compare an analog input value to the analog reference value after expiration of an allotted settling time for the digital-to-analog converter and generate a comparison result indicative a relationship between the analog input value and the analog reference value. The control logic circuitry is configured to select the allotted settling time for the digital-to-analog converter based on a bit position of a digital output code to be determined, and update the bit position of the digital output code based on the comparison result.

Abstract: A first microwave backhaul assembly comprises a first antenna, a front-end circuit, an inter-backhaul-assembly interface circuit, and an interference cancellation circuit. The first antenna is operable to receive a first microwave signal. The front-end circuit is operable to convert the first microwave signal to a lower-frequency digital signal, wherein the lower-frequency digital signal has energy of a second microwave signal and energy of a third microwave signal. The inter-backhaul-assembly interface circuit is operable to receive information from a second microwave backhaul assembly. The interference cancellation circuit is operable to use the information received via the inter-backhaul-assembly interface circuit during processing of the lower-frequency digital signal to remove, from the first microwave signal, the energy of the third microwave signal. The information received via the inter-backhaul-assembly interface may comprise a signal having energy of the second microwave signal.

Assessing the effects of distortion may include determining one or more characteristics associated with the communication of the signals, where the one or more characteristics relate and/or are subject to the effects of the distortion, and assessing the effects of distortion based on the one or more characteristics.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for band-limited digital pre-distortion (DPD) expansion estimation and curve adjustment. Pre-distortion adjustments may be applied during processing of an input signal, and expansion introduced as result of applying the pre-distortion adjustments may then be estimated. Expansion adjustments may then be determined based on the estimated expansion, and the expansion adjustments may be applied in a feedback manner during subsequent processing operations.

Abstract: First transmitter circuitry communicates, via bus interface circuitry, on a data bus to detect whether any second transmitter circuitry is coupled to the data bus. In instances that no second transmitter circuitry is detected as being coupled to the data bus, the first transmitter circuitry transmits beamformed signals via a first plurality of antenna elements using beamforming coefficients. In instances that second transmitter circuitry is detected as being coupled to the data bus, the first transmitter circuitry determines a phase offset between clock generation circuitry of the first transmitter circuitry and clock generation circuitry of the detected second transmitter circuitry. The first transmitter circuitry compensates the beamforming coefficients based on the determined phase offset. The first transmitter circuitry use the compensated beamforming coefficients for transmitting signals that are phase coherent with signals transmitted by the second transmitter circuitry.

Abstract: A wireless communication device (WCD) establishes an ad-hoc communication link with a second WCD within operating range. A replica of at least a portion of a display of the first WCD may be shared with the second WCD utilizing wireless broadband signals that are communicated via the established one or more ad-hoc communication links. The first WCD and the second WCD are operable to communicate the wireless broadband signals at a power level that is below a spurious emissions mask. The transmitted wireless broadband signals are spread so they occupy a designated frequency spectrum band. The shared replica of at least a portion of the display of the first WCD includes one or more applications, text, video and/or data content. A user of the first WCD may interact with content that is displayed on a display of the second WCD and vice-versa.

Abstract: A communication system may include a first broadband wireless device and a second broadband wireless device. Signals may be wirelessly communicated from the first broadband wireless device to the second broadband wireless device at a power level that is below a spurious emissions mask. The communicated signals may be transmitted over a designated frequency band. A barrier separates the first broadband wireless device from the second broadband wireless device. The first broadband wireless device may be paired with the second broadband wireless device. Usable channels may be detected within a frequency spectrum band designated for use by the first and the second broadband wireless device. The signals may be wirelessly communicated from the first to the second broadband wireless device via one or more of the detected usable channels. Two or more of the plurality of the detected usable channels may be aggregated and utilized for the communication.

Abstract: A cable modem termination system (CMTS) may communicate with a plurality of cable modems using a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) subcarriers. The CMTS may determine a performance metric of each of the cable modems. For each of the OFDM subcarriers and each of the cable modems, the CMTS may select physical layer parameters to be used for communication with that cable modem on that OFDM subcarrier based on a performance metric of that cable modem. The parameters may be selected for each individual modem and/or each individual subcarrier, or may be selected for groups of modems and/or groups of subcarriers. The parameters may include, for example, one or more of: transmit power, receive sensitivity, timeslot duration, modulation type, modulation order, forward error correction (FEC) type, and FEC code rate.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for gain control during communications. A first electronic device may communicated data to a second electronic device; may monitor conditions and/or parameters affecting estimated reception performance at the second electronic device; and may communicated to the second electronic device, via a connection separate from and different than a connection used in communicating the data, information relating to the monitored conditions, to enable adjusting functions relating to reception of the data at the second electronic device. Based on the received information, at least one reception related function in the second electronic device may be controlled. The controlling may include determining, based on the received information, adjustments to the at least one reception related function or to a related parameter. The at least one reception related function may include applying gain to at least a portion of signals received by the second electronic device.
