The present invention is directed to a method for mechanical working of a metal containing copper, aluminum or an alloy thereof. The method is carried out in the presence of an aqueous cooling lubricant containing an alkanol amine. The lubricant is capable of preventing and reducing the corrosion of both metals and iron.

A powder for preparing a water-based high temperature lubricant is disclosed in which the powder comprises graphite and minor effective amounts of borate, dextrin, and xanthan gum. A continuous process for making the lubricant is also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a grease composition comprising a silicon oil of 61 to 47% by weight as a base oil, a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) of 35 to 40% by weight as a thickener, a silica aerogel of 3 to 8% by weight and an extreme pressure additive of 1 to 5% by weight which provides excellent abrasion resistance, heat resistance, cold resistance, low torque property at low temperature, and viscosity and thus applicable in the fields of automobiles and aerospace.

A lubricating composition which may contain up to 70 weight percent abrasive grit material for use with wire saw and slicing apparatus for cutting or slicing hard and brittle materials. The composition contains abrasive particles suspended in a mixture of high and low molecular weight polyalkylene glycols and a suspension agent. The viscosity of the composition is about 50 to 700 cps.

A lubricant additive including a borate dispersion, wherein the lubricant additive is a dispersion of an alkali metal salt of boric acid in a mixture of an alkaline earth metal salt of a salicylic acid and an alkenylsuccinimide. The lubricant additive provides a high dropping point for grease used under a high temperature condition of 130.degree. C. or higher and per se exhibits anti-oxidant performance. A lubricant grease composition containing the lubricating additive is also disclosed.
