Abstract:
In a vehicle control device with an automatic engine stop function, when the engine is in a non-operating state and the shift lever is operated to the parking range, the engine is controlled to start to supply operating oil to a valve timing changing means. The valve timing changing means is thereupon caused to change the intake valve close timing (IVC) to a predetermined advance angle position and subsequently locked thereat. The engine is then controlled to stop.
Abstract:
A valve timing controller includes a housing, a vane rotor, and a stopper pin. The stopper pin regulates a relative rotation position of the vane rotor relative to the housing. A boss part of the vane rotor has a plurality of metal plates layered with each other in an axial direction. At least one metal plate of the plurality of metal plates has a hole in which the stopper pin is inserted, and a nail projected from an inner wall of the hole toward the stopper pin so as to hold the stopper pin.
Abstract:
A camshaft phaser is provided for varying the phase relationship between a crankshaft and a camshaft in an engine. The camshaft phaser includes a stator having lobes. A rotor disposed within the stator and rotatable between a full retard position to a full retard position includes vanes extending radially outward from a central hub and interspersed with the stator lobes to define alternating advance and retard chambers. A first portion of the central hub between adjacent vanes extends radially outward further than a second portion of the central hub between adjacent vanes.
Abstract:
A drive cam is rotated about a camshaft member upon application a drive torque of a drive source to the drive cam. A transmission device converts rotational motion of the drive cam into linear reciprocating motion and transmits the converted linear reciprocating motion to a control shaft member. The control shaft member is connected to a controlled subject and is linearly reciprocated together with the transmission device in an axial direction. A reverse input cutoff clutch transmits the drive torque, which is received from the drive source, to the drive cam. The reverse input cutoff clutch non-rotatably locks an output shaft of the drive source in response to a reverser input torque transmitted from the controlled subject through the drive cam.
Abstract:
A variable cam timing phaser (10) can a drive stator (14) and at least one driven rotor (20, 20a, 20b) mounted for rotation about a common axis. At least one vane-type hydraulic coupling can define at least one expandable fluid chamber (40, 50, 40a, 50a, 40b, 50b) for coupling the at least one driven rotor (20, 20a, 20b) for rotation with the drive stator (14) to enable the phase of the at least one driven rotor (20, 20a, 20b) to be adjusted independently of one another and independently relative to the drive stator (14). A control valve (60) can have at least one inlet port (62), at least one outlet port (64, 64a), and at least one common shared fluid passage (16, 16a, 16b, 16c, 16d). At least one rotatable fluid flow diverter (80, 80a) can be in fluid communication with the at least one common shared fluid passage (16, 16a, 16b, 16c, 16d) for selectively communicating the at least one common shared fluid passage (16, 16a, 16b, 16c, 16d) with the at least one expandable fluid chamber (40, 50, 40a, 50a, 40b, 50b).

A phase control apparatus in a variable cam timing (VCT) system of an engine is described herein. The phase control apparatus includes a locking pin coupled to a vane, the locking pin extending into a locking pin recess in a cover plate in a locked configuration, the locking pin and locking pin recess having a backlash and a housing at least partially enclosing the vane and spaced away from the vane forming a gap in the locked configuration.
Abstract:
A camshaft adjuster for an internal combustion engine is described, composed of an adjusting gear designed as a triple-shaft gear, with a drive wheel which is driven from the internal combustion engine and via which the drive torque for the camshaft is introduced, of a gear output coupled fixedly in terms of rotation to the camshaft, and of a gear input wheel which is coupled to a drive motor and via which the adjusting torque causing the relative rotation between the drive wheel and gear output is introduced into the adjusting gear, there being provided a failsafe mechanism which causes blocking of the adjusting gear and which, in the event of the absence of an adjusting torque to be introduced via the gear input wheel, acts upon a gear element located between the drive wheel and gear output.
Abstract:
In a valve timing control system for an internal combustion engine, brushes and slip rings are disposed within a space formed between each of an intake air side and an exhaust side device main frames and each of intake air side and exhaust side cover members and partitioned by means of the respective seal members and the respective cover members are configured to enable radial directional position adjustments by a predetermined quantity and are fixed to the internal combustion engine in a state in which the radial directional position adjustments of the respective cover members have been made.
