Further an audio and video socket is provided, comprising a female audio socket having at least one audio signal socket contact and one audio ground socket contact, and a video signal socket contact being electrically insulated from said female audio socket, the socket being characterized by at least one video ground socket contact located radially outward said female audio socket, and being electrically insulated from said female audio socket and said video signal socket contact.
Abstract:
In addition to the single molded part incorporating features of the conventional nut, sealing member and body, the connector includes a post and a hollow compression sealing ring. The post includes an integrally formed stem and flange portions, with the compression ring axially movable upon the body and including a tapered surface which applies a radially inward force to the body, compressing the cable and providing tight frictional engagement of the connector and cable. When in its fully installed position, the axial length of the ring is sufficient to entirely enclose the unitary body and nut, preferably having an interference fit with the outer surface of the nut portion, thus locking and sealing the connector threads to the equipment port. The compression ring is preferably of metal to shield the internal plastic parts of the connector from UV rays.
Abstract:
A coaxial connector mountable on an end of a coaxial cable having a central conductor (cc) and an exterior conductor (ce), the connector comprising a first conductive contact element (2; 27; 38; 40) for contacting the central conductor (cc), a second conductive contact element (4; 21; 302; 411) for contacting the exterior conductor (ce) electrically isolated from the first contact element, a clamping member (5; 22; 42) opposing the second contact element for clamping the exterior conductor against the second contact element and a force applying member (6; 23; 441) for forcing the clamping member and the second contact element towards each other, wherein the second contact element and/or the clamping member comprise at least one deforming member (502; 222–223; 423–424) for deforming the exterior conductor (ce) under influence of the force applying member, wherein each deforming member (502; 222–223; 423–424) is constructed in a material with a predetermined hardness above that of the material of the exterior conductor and has a predetermined shape for hardening a portion of the exterior conductor to such an extent that it becomes substantially fully elastic.
Abstract:
The invention relates to surge suppressors. One embodiment provides a surge suppressing device including: a power circuit having an MOV and a thermal fuse in proximity to the MOV; an isolation structure containing the MOV and the thermal fuse; and a plurality of utility outlets in electrical communication with the power circuit. The isolation structure isolates the MOV and thermal fuse from at least a portion of the surge-suppressing device and encapsulates emissions from the MOV during an overvoltage event. Another embodiment provides a surge suppressing device including: a power section having a power circuit; an intermediate section adjacent to the power section; and an outlet section adjacent to the intermediate section such that the intermediate section separates the power section and the outlet section. The outlet section includes a plurality of utility outlets in electrical communication with the power circuit. Further embodiments are described.
Abstract:
An insulated cable attachment device, made of an electrically insulating material, is connectable to a termination connector which is in turn connectable to a tap port for a cable television system. When an installer disconnects service to a subscriber's house, the signal is shut down to the tap port to which the subscriber drop cable is connected. The drop cable is disconnected from the tap port and a terminator connector is connected in its place on the tap port. The installer then installs the insulated cable attachment device onto the terminator connector before connecting the drop cable to the insulated cable attachment device, thereby preventing any difference in ground potentials between the terminal connector and the drop cable from being transmitted to the end of the drop cable near the house.
Abstract:
An apparatus for selectively coupling electrical connectors. The apparatus includes a common connector electrically coupled to a secondary connector and a primary connector electrically coupled to the common connector through an isolation means. The isolation means operates to electrically isolate the primary connector upon detection of an external connection to the secondary connector.
Abstract:
A telecommunications apparatus for use with a plug having at least first, second and third pins. The telecommunications apparatus includes a plug connector for receiving the plug. The plug connector includes at least first, second and third electrical contacts for electrically contacting the first, second and third pins, respectively, when the plug is inserted in the plug connector. The plug connector also includes an electrical by-pass pathway that: i) electrically connects the first and second electrical contacts when the plug is fully removed from the plug connector such that a signal can enter the plug connector through the first contact, pass through the by-pass pathway to the second contact, and exit the plug connector through the second contact; and ii) does not electrically connect the first and second electrical contacts when the plug is fully inserted within the plug connector such that a signal can enter the plug connector through the first contact, pass through the plug to the second contact, and exit the plug connector through the second contact.
