Abstract:
The inventive sensor device includes a support structure, a sensing element mounted on the support substrate for sensing optical radiation and generating an electrical output signal in response thereto, and an encapsulant encapsulating the sensing element on the support structure. The encapsulant being configured to define a lens portion for focusing incident optical radiation onto an active surface of the sensing element, and an optical radiation collector portion surrounding the lens portion for collecting and redirecting optical radiation that is not incident the lens portion onto the active surface of the sensing element. The collector portion may be a parabolic reflector that reflects incident light by total internal reflection. The sensor device may be incorporated into an assembly including a diffuser positioned across an aperture, and/or may be incorporated into a vehicle accessory such as a rearview mirror assembly.

A circuit for use with a photodetector includes multiple switches, a comparator, and a capacitor. The photodetector receives a first voltage and a second voltage at first and second nodes, respectively. The first voltage is higher than the second voltage. The capacitor is connected to the first node. During a power up sequence, the capacitor is charged to the first voltage. The comparator detects when the voltage at the first node reaches a predetermined threshold and in response causes a switch to close so that the second node can receive the second voltage. In a power down sequence, the first and second nodes are allowed to discharge, with the capacitor slowing the discharge of the first node. The comparator detects when the voltage at the first node reaches a predetermined threshold and in response causes another switch to short the second node to ground.

The probe opening fabricating apparatus is capable of readily fabricating an opening of desired dimensions with a high reproducibility.
Abstract:
An optoelectronic switch position detection apparatus for detecting the switch positions of a switch element movable in switch position steps in a switch direction with each switch position step corresponding to a switch position includes receivers, a light, and a shutter. The receivers are arranged at a distance correspondingly from each other of a switch position step in the switch direction of the switch element. The shutter is coupled to the movement of the switch element to move relative to the receivers and the light as the switch element moves in the switch direction between switch positions. The state of one of the receivers changes between an exposed state in which the receiver is exposed to the light and a shaded state in which the shutter shades the receiver from the light when the switch element moves in the switch direction from one switch position to an adjacent switch position.
Abstract:
A light curtain system is provided for establishing a protective light curtain for a tool in a system for processing objects such as wafers, and is particularly provided as a safety device for an operator of the tool. The light curtain system includes a first light curtain component of invisible light beams. A receiver and an emitter form edges of the protective light curtain from the invisible light beams. In addition, a second light curtain component of visible light beams is provided. The visible light beams are directed and transmitted adjacent and in parallel to the light beams of invisible light for forming a part of the protective light curtain and for making the protective light curtain visible for an operator. The second light curtain component of visible light beams is activated at least temporarily.
Abstract:
A method of installing a multi-beam photoelectric safeguard system for making a light curtain of closely aligned light beams closely to a pressing machine first positions main light emitting and detecting devices (11, 12). The method next mounts a projecting portion (21) to the pressing machine and identifies optical axes interrupted by the projecting portion (21). Subsequently, after setting a sub light detecting device (13) adjacent to one side of the projecting portion (21), the method adjusts optical axes between the sub light detecting device (13) and the main light emitting device (11). Finally, after setting a sub light emitting device (14) adjacent to the other side of the projecting portion (21), the methods adjusts optical axes between the sub light emitting device (14) and the main light detecting device (12).

Abstract:
A photosensor-amplifier device has a photoelectric conversion circuit that converts an optical signal into an electric signal, a first electrode by way of which the electric signal is extracted from the photoelectric conversion circuit, a second electrode that is not directly connected to the electric signal, an amplifier circuit that has a first input terminal and a second input terminal and that amplifies and then outputs the difference between the electric signals fed to the first and second input terminals, a first wire that connects the first electrode to the first input terminal, and a second wire that connects the second electrode to the second input terminal. This structure prevents noise signals from being induced in a signal path, such as a wire, connecting the photoelectric conversion circuit to the amplifier circuit, and thereby prevents malfunctioning of the device as experienced in conventional photosensor-amplifier devices.
Abstract:
An integrated circuit for controlling an array of LEDs includes at least one signal amplifier, signal processing means, driver means for driving the array of light emitting diodes, at least one switch, and control means for controlling the integrated circuit. The integrated circuit is formed using silicon-on-insulator technology and is selectively shielded from the array of LEDs. The integrated drive electronics with silicon-on-insulator technology will allow for improved white light generation.
