Abstract: A method of detecting detachment of an ostomy device from a patient includes providing, in the ostomy device, a first electrode separated from the patient by an adhesive that attaches the ostomy device to the patient, where a first capacitor is formed between the first electrode and the patient. The method includes applying a signal to an electrical circuit that includes the first capacitor, and detecting changes in a capacitance value of the first capacitor based on frequency responses of the electrical circuit to the signal. The method additionally includes activating an alarm based upon detecting the changes in the capacitance value of the first capacitor.

Abstract: A base plate of an ostomy appliance includes a film, an adhesive disposed on a proximal surface of the film, an annular ring connected to the distal surface of the film, and a release liner removably attached to the adhesive. A stoma-receiving through-going hole is formed through the film and the adhesive and the release liner. A first section of the base plate extends radially from the stoma-receiving through-going hole to a second section of the base plate, and the second section extends radially from the first section to an outermost perimeter edge of the base plate. The base plate is formed to have a heat-set curvature such that a proximal side of the second section is convex and a distal side of the second section is concave relative to the annular ring.

Abstract: An implant adapted to treat urinary incontinence includes a support material, a suture, and an anchor. The support material is provided to support the urethra when implanted in a patient. The suture is inserted through the support material and includes a first trailing end portion and a second trailing end portion. The anchor has a body, a fin extending from the body with an eyelet formed in the fin and the suture passed through the eyelet of the fin, and a gripping tab removably attached to the fin. The gripping tab is removable from the fin prior to insertion of the anchor into tissue.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method, performed by an accessory device (i.e. an accessory device of an ostomy system disclosed herein), for monitoring an ostomy system. The accessory device comprises an interface configured to communicate with one or more devices of the ostomy system, the interface comprising a display. The accessory device is configured to communicate with an ostomy system as disclosed herein. The ostomy system comprises a monitor device, and/or an ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a skin surface of a user. The ostomy appliance comprises a base plate. The method comprises: obtaining monitor data from the one or more devices, obtaining context data, determining one or more future operating states of the ostomy appliance based on the monitor data and the context data, wherein a future operating state is indicative of future adhesive performance of the ostomy appliance, and communicating the one or more future operating states.

Abstract: A base plate of an ostomy appliance includes a first adhesive layer and a masking element. The first adhesive layer includes a stomal opening with a center point and a proximal surface configured to be attached to a skin surface of a user. The masking element is arranged on a distal surface of the first adhesive layer and is more insulative than the first adhesive layer. A plurality of electrodes is arranged on the distal surface of the first adhesive layer, where each electrode includes a sensing part and a conductor part. The masking element is arranged between the conductor part of each electrode and the first adhesive layer. The electrodes are formed on a proximal surface of a support layer.

Abstract: A method is disclosed performed by an accessory device in connection with an ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a user having a stoma. The method includes capturing one or more images of the user's stoma, processing the images, including: identifying the stoma; and generating indicia representative of a cutting line for the ostomy appliance as a function of the identified stoma, wherein the cutting line defines a hole to be formed on the ostomy appliance. The method further includes providing a visual display including: an appliance representation; and the indicia on the appliance representation.
