Abstract:
A passive exercise therapy station moves a patient's limb or body part through a prescribed range of motion without stress to the patient's limb or associated joints. A frame is formed of a pair of arches joined in parallel to one another, with a pair of overhead horizontal rails. One or more main cables extend over guide pulleys on the frame and past an adjustable guide carriage that travels along the overhead rails. An actuator positions the guide carriage at a desired location on the overhead rails. An exercise cable descends from the guide carriage to the patient. The exercise cable may be a web attached to the main cable. The exercise therapy station may be wheeled between rooms for therapy of a given patient.
Abstract:
A system and method for synchronizing a stylus to a capacitive sense array. The system including a capacitive sense array which includes a plurality of electrodes. A synchronization signal is transmitted to the stylus using the plurality of electrodes. The synchronization signal is transmitted to the stylus by capacitively coupling the stylus to the capacitive sense array.
Abstract:
A verification circuit for a capacitor power supply measures at least two voltages across the terminals of the capacitor at two points in time, the two points in time defining a time interval dT. A change in voltage dV over the time interval dT is determined. An operation powered by the capacitor is initiated, or not, by deriving from the time interval dT and/or the voltage change dV, a total required time or a total required voltage for completing the operation, and comparing the total required time or total required voltage to a pre-determined necessary total time or predetermined necessary total voltage, respectively (a “time interval test”).
Abstract:
A method and system provide in-band protection switch signaling in a communication system arranged as a point-to-multipoint tree. The point-to-multipoint tree includes a root node communicatively coupled to a plurality of leaf nodes through both a working link and a protection link. Data is transferred through a current link of the point-to-multipoint tree. The current link is either the working link or the protection link. A fault is detected in the current link in the point-to-multipoint tree. Each leaf node in the point-to-multipoint tree is notified of the fault using the current link. Upon receiving the notification, the root node and each leaf node switch to the other link of the working link and the protection link.

Abstract:
Fitting a sound processing device for an individual is automated using a computer. Fitting and customisation is carried out using natural sounds without specialised audiometric equipment or audiological expertise. Software for this purpose is downloaded from an internet portal. The computer plays back acoustic signals, and obtains user input reflecting the user's perceptions of the acoustic signals, from which a hearing map is derived, representing the user's hearing. An algorithm updates the device fitting based on the hearing map. Also provided is pre-sale virtual device fitting, whereby a virtual signal processing path is established in the computer, reflecting a signal processing function of a sound processing device of interest to the user. An algorithm updates parameters of the virtual processing path, based on the hearing map. Audio signals passed through the virtual processing path are played back to the user, giving the user an acoustic indication of future device performance.
Abstract:
A universal serial bus controller pre-generates and stores a subset of USB commands in a memory, the pre-generated commands available for transmission to at least one USB peripheral device over universal serial bus, and transfers at least one command from the subset of pre-generated commands stored in the memory to the USB peripheral device over the universal serial bus. The universal serial bus controller may receive a response to the transferred command from the USB peripheral device over the universal serial bus, and send an acknowledgment packet to the USB peripheral device over the universal serial bus responsive to receiving the response from the USB peripheral device.
Abstract:
A method for determining the position of one of two components in relative motion with respect to each other, using optical means, comprises: directing at least one light beam emitted by a light source attached to one component towards a diffractive support attached to the second component, calculated and manufactured for generating an optical signal indicative of the positioning of said support, the optical signal being produced by the diffractive support in transmission and/or in reflection, and the optical signal including information indicative of its quality; detecting and reading at least one optical code formed by said signal, which corresponds to a unique position of the diffractive support relatively to the beam; and assigning a position to each detected optical code.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a circuit for encoding code phase modulated (CPM) signals, including a code storage device storing one or more PN codes, a counter, and a multiplexer coupled to the code storage device and the counter, the multiplexer to provide an encoded CPM sequence using the one or more reference codes.
