Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for treating symptoms of a user, such as anxiety, depression and/or epileptic seizures, by electrical non-invasive stimulation of a nerve, such as the vagus nerve. A stimulator has a contact surface for contacting an outer skin surface of a patient. The stimulator is configured to wirelessly receive a signal from the software application that includes an electrical stimulation signal comprising at least one electrical impulse sufficient to modulate a nerve within a patient and to ameliorate one or more symptoms in the patient. The stimulator is configured to transmit the electrical impulse through the contact surface and the outer skin surface of the user.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for treating seizures, such as epileptic seizures, by electrical non-invasive stimulation of a nerve, such as the vagus nerve. A stimulator comprises a contact surface, such as an electrode, for contacting an outer skin surface of a patient. The stimulator is configured for coupling to a mobile device configured to receive a wireless signal. The stimulator is configured to transmit the electrical impulse through the contact surface and the outer skin surface sufficient to modulate a nerve within a patient and to ameliorate one or more symptoms of a seizure in the patient.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for treating or preventing a developmental disorder, such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), an autism spectrum disorder, Asperger syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, overactive disorder, pervasive developmental disorder. A device comprises an electrode having a contact surface for contacting an outer skin surface of a patient and a power source coupled the electrode. The power source generates and transmits an electrical impulse having a frequency of about 1 kHz to about 20 kHz through the contact surface and the outer skin surface to a nerve within the patient. The electrical impulse is sufficient to modify the behavioral disorder in the patient.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for modulating one or more nerves within patients. A method comprises generating a signal comprising an electrical impulse and contacting an interface with an outer skin surface of a patient. The electrical impulse is delivered from one or more electrode(s) through the interface and the outer skin surface of the patient to a vagus nerve, thereby modulating the vagus nerve sufficiently to treat a medical condition. The one or more electrode(s) are spaced from the interface by a distance of about 0.25 to about 4 times an outer dimension of the interface.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for treating one or more symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a patient. A method includes positioning a contact surface of a device in contact with an outer skin surface of patient and applying an electrical impulse transcutaneously from the device through the outer skin surface of the patient to a vagus nerve in the patient for about 90 seconds to about 3 minutes. The electrical impulse is sufficient to modify the vagus nerve such that the symptoms of PTSD are reduced. For chronic treatment of PTSD, a stimulation protocol is provided that includes two or more doses administered per day for a period of time sufficient to relieve the symptoms.

Abstract: Energy is transmitted noninvasively to a patient using electrode-based stimulation devices or magnetic stimulation devices that are designed to non-invasively stimulate nerves selectively. The devices produce impulses that are used to treat atrial fibrillation, by stimulating a vagus nerve of a patient. The devices are also used to forecast the imminent onset of atrial fibrillation and then avert it by stimulating a vagus nerve.
