Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for treating or preventing a developmental disorder, such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), an autism spectrum disorder, Asperger syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, overactive disorder, pervasive developmental disorder. A device comprises an electrode having a contact surface for contacting an outer skin surface of a patient and a power source coupled the electrode. The power source generates and transmits an electrical impulse having a frequency of about 1 kHz to about 20 kHz through the contact surface and the outer skin surface to a nerve within the patient. The electrical impulse is sufficient to modify the behavioral disorder in the patient.

Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are provided for delivering energy impulses (and/or fields) to bodily tissues for therapeutic purposes. A system for stimulating a nerve within a patient comprises a stimulator having an electrode configured for contacting the outer skin surface at, or near the target location and an energy source coupled to the stimulator, The energy source is configured to generate at least one electrical impulse and to transmit the electrical impulse transcutaneously from the electrode through the outer skin surface of the patient to a selected nerve in the patient adjacent to, or near, the target location. The system further comprises a software application configured for downloading onto a user interface. The software application controls parameters of the stimulator, which may be based on a physiological parameter of the patient and/or user status information related to the effectiveness of the therapy.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are provided for symptoms in patients, such as postoperative symptoms following major surgery and/or for treating patients in critical or intensive care. A device includes a patch having an adhesive surface for adhering to an outer skin surface of the patient and comprising one or more electrodes. An energy source is wirelessly coupled to the electrodes and configured to generate at least one electrical impulse and to wirelessly transmit the at least one electrical impulse transcutaneously from the electrodes through the outer skin surface of the patient to a selected nerve in the patient according to a stimulation protocol. The stimulation protocol includes administering at least one dose of about sixty seconds to about 5 minutes each day for a plurality of days. The doses may be administered before and after the patient’s surgery, or while the patient is being treating in intensive care.

Abstract: A medical device, such as a neurostimulator, is provided that includes a housing, a power supply, a signal generator and one or more electrodes coupled to the housing. The signal generator is configured to apply one or more electrical impulses to the one or more electrodes for a period of time, the period of time being defined as a single dose. A memory is coupled to the housing and stores a first content corresponding to a time period that has elapsed and a second content corresponding to a number of single doses that have been emitted by the signal generator. The device is configured to switch from an activated mode and a deactivated mode upon a first occurrence of either a specific number of single doses have been emitted by the signal generator or a specific time period has elapsed.

Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for the non-invasive treatment of autoimmune diseases or disorders through the delivery of energy to target nervous tissue, particularly the vagus nerve.. A device for treating an autoimmune disease or disorder comprises one or more electrodes having a contact surface configured for contacting an anterior portion of an outer skin surface of a neck of a patient and an energy source coupled to the electrodes. The energy source is configured to generate one or more electrical impulses and to transmit the electrical impulses to the electrodes and transcutaneously through the anterior portion of the outer skin surface of the neck of the patient at or near a vagus nerve. The electrical impulses are sufficient to modulate the vagus nerve and to inhibit inflammation and treat the disorder.
