Abstract:
A container (10) for a filter (12) has a cylindrical housing (16) receiving the filter (12) and permitting replacement of the filter (12) from an open end. An enlarged diameter fitting (22) is secured about the open end of the cylindrical housing (16) and has retaining lugs (30) for retaining a removable end cap assembly. The removable end cap assembly has an anchor plate (40) with projections (46) that are received within arcuate slots (32) of the end fitting (22). The anchor plate (40) is coupled to an end cap (42) for rotation to position the projections (46) beneath the lugs (30) to restrain outward movement of the anchor plate (40). A single bolt (44) through the end cap (42) is threaded to the anchor plate (40). Rotation of the bolt draws the anchor plate (40) tightly against the lugs (30). The end cap (42) is simultaneously forced against an O-ring (36) disposed on the outer end (50) of fitting (22) for sealing the end cap to the container. An embodiment of FIG. 5 has an adaptor (25A) removably connected to a flange (22A) on the cylindrical housing (16A) to provide a retrofit. An embodiment of FIGS. 6-9 provides visible external indicia on the cap assembly to indicate when the cap (42B) is in fully engaged position with the housing (16B).
Abstract:
A debris trap and in-pool skimmer for use in combination with a swimming pool cleaner having a housing; a housing lid having a conduit with an inlet and an outlet; a filter suspended within the housing; a downspout normal to and intersecting the conduit that penetrates the lid and the filter, is in fluid communication with the inlet and prevents direct flow between the inlet and the outlet; an exit port in the outlet that opens within the housing; and a one-way relief valve in the housing that opens within the filter.
Abstract:
A filtering system for water treatment including a head member having fluid inlet and outlet ports, a bracket member adapted to be secured to stationary support means, the head member being secured to the bracket member, a disposable filter cartridge closed at one end and being equipped at its other end with a closure member, the closure member having inlet and outlet passages formed therein to communicate with the interior of said filter cartridge, the closure member portion of the filter cartridge being insertable into the head member, its inlet and outlet passages formed so as to communicate with the inlet and outlet ports in the head member, the closure member being adapted for easy insertion into and withdrawal from the head member.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for transferring marine creatures from one pressure environment to another. The apparatus includes a rigid container having at least one access opening, and a fluid-tight closure for the access opening. Structure is provided for gradually permitting the escape of fluid from within the container, and thereby the release of pressure. Pressure-indicating structure is also provided to facilitate the release of pressure within the container at a controlled rate. At least a portion of the container preferably is transparent to permit viewing of the marine animal within the container. A method for transferring marine animals from one pressure environment to another is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A container and cap assembly comprising a receiving container and a cap for engagement therewith. Engagement means is provided for quick assembly or disassembly of the cap from the container which comprises at least two recesses in the cylindrical outer wall of the lower end of the cap for receiving corresponding locking pins on the cylindrical wall of the container. The recesses each comprise a first receiving portion and a locking portion. The locking pins each have a substantially elongated outer configuration with respect to longitudinal axis of the container.
Abstract:
A filtering system for water treatment including a head member having inlet and outlet ports and a replaceable, disposable filter cartridge for insertion into the head member, the filter cartridge including a dual lug retaining system for retaining the filter cartridge in the head member, one of said lug retaining systems being disposed on the pressure vessel of the filter cartridge and the other of said lug retaining systems being disposed on the closure member of the filter cartridge.
Abstract:
The present invention sets forth an adapter for filter cartridges and a mating cartridge which provides sealing means between the cartridge and the adapter and sealing means between the adapter and a filter head to which it is to be installed, and means for installing the adapter on a cartridge and for installing the adapter in the filter head with an aligning and locking means that ensures that all parts are appropriately positioned for proper function and at the same time will prevent physical disengagement and/or a break in the flow path from the cartridge to the filter head when the cartridge and adapter are properly installed in the filter head.
Abstract:
A detably attaching mechanism for a cup of a lubricator or a filter used with an air-actuated device comprising such cup containing therein a quantity of lubrication oil or filter elements, means to supply a quantity of lubrication oil from the cup into an air stream flowing from an inlet to an outlet or to introduce the air stream through the filter elements contained within the cup, a cover mounted on the cup and a protective cylinder mounted around the cup, characterized by that the protective cylinder is provided on its outer periphery with a locking piece adapted to have its front or top end being outwardly tilted away from the outer periphery of the protective cylinder by depressing its rear or lower end and this locking piece is mounted with interposition of an elastically flexible leg on the outer periphery of the protective cylinder and that the cover is provided in its outer periphery with receiving means adapted to receive the front or top end of the locking piece upon completion of attachment of the cup and the protective cylinder to the cover and thereby to prevent rotation of the cup and the protective cylinder relative to the cover.
Abstract:
A fluid containing system, as in a filter, for toxic or hazardous fluids is provided with rotatable base seals that can be alternatively positioned to permit the flow of fluids from the filter supply line, passing through the filter or, alternatively, the filter supply line can be sealed shut to prevent fluid leakage when the filter is removed. A third filter seal position is provided, wherein a cleaning fluid, for example compressed air, can be supplied to the filter in order to remove excess fluid from the filter prior to removal. An alternative embodiment permits removal of the filter and sealing of the supply line by rotating the filter and seal assembly about the supply line access to save space or to facilitate changing the filter. The fluid containing system can also function as a fluid sampler, or to add materials to the fluid system.
