    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a rubber composition for a sidewall having excellent conductivity, anti-spew cutting property and extrusion processability in good balance and assuring low production cost. The present invention provides a rubber composition for a sidewall comprising 2 to 15 parts by mass of a wet processed silica having a BET specific surface area of 70 to 250 m2/g and 40 to 62 parts by mass of a carbon black having a BET specific surface area of 37 to 125 m2/g based on 100 parts by mass of a diene rubber component, wherein the rubber composition does not contain a silane coupling agent, and has a volume resistivity of not more than 1×108 Ω·cm.

    Abstract: A phenol-modified polyorganosiloxane suitable as a modifier for an organic resin, in which a platinum metal content is reduced, and the yellowing is reduced, a method for preparing the same, and a modifier for an organic resin containing the same are provided. The phenol-modified polyorganosiloxane is a compound of formula (I), having a platinum metal content of 0.9 ppm or less. The phenol-modified polyorganosiloxane can be prepared by subjecting a phenol compound substituted with an alkenyl group of formula (IV) and a polyorganohydrogen siloxane of formula (V) to a hydrosilation reaction in the presence of a platinum-based catalyst applicable to a homogenous system, and subsequently, reducing the platinum metal content of the resulting product to 0.9 ppm or less by conducting one or more filtration procedures selected from the group consisting of filtration conducted where activated carbon is added, filtration conducted by using a filter comprising activated carbon, and filtration conducted by using a filter capable of adsorbing cations, alone or in combination.

    Abstract: A blend is disclosed comprising polyvinyl chloride (PVC) powder and trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate. This acrylate unexpectedly provides a very nice melt flux state during use in fluidized bed powder coating apparatus. The use of this acrylate in some embodiments allows a reduction of PVC and plasticizer in the blend. Coated metal articles using the blend include appliance components, outdoor furniture, and automotive parts.
