Abstract: A resin pellet group according to the present invention includes a pellet (A1) containing an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (a1), and a pellet (A2) containing an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (a2). Here, the pellet (A1) has a melt tension of 10 mN or more and 30 mN or less at a take-up speed of 50 m/min and 210° C., and the pellet (A2) has a melt tension of 2 mN or more and less than 10 mN at a take-up speed of 50 m/min and 210° C. Furthermore, an ethylene unit content (ECa1) of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (a1) is different from an ethylene unit content (ECa2) of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (a2), and a mass ratio (A1/A2) of the pellet (A1) to the pellet (A2) is set to 20/80 or more and 99/1 or less.

Abstract: A biodegradable composite comprising a polymeric matrix including but not limited to poly lactide (PLA), poly (butylene succinate) 20 (PBS), poly(butylene succinate adipate) (PBSA), including bio-based PBSA (BioPBSA), poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT), polycaprolactone (PCL), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA(s)), poly(3-hydroxy)butyrate (PHB), poly(3-hydroxy-butyrate-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV), copolyester of the monomers 1.4-butanediol, adipic acid and terephthalic acid (Ecoflex™) and polypropylene carbonate (PPC), and biocarbon, a.k.a. biochar or pyrolyzed biomass as a sustainable filler. The biodegradable composite achieves high oxygen barrier with balanced water barrier. Also, a method of manufacturing the biodegradable composite and articles of manufacturing comprising the biodegradable composite. The articles of manufacturing have application in limiting gas permeation into a package and extending shelf life of a material.

Abstract: Compositions for forming an improved vapor mitigation barrier are contemplated, such compositions being formed as an aqueous mixture of an asphalt component and a latex component, with the latex component including a chemically resistant latex, the chemically resistant latex being an acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer, an elastomeric fluoropolymer, or both. Such compositions, when cured and formed into a vapor mitigation barrier, may be seen to substantially mitigate diffusion of chlorinated hydrocarbons across the barriers. Also contemplated are methods for forming such vapor mitigation barriers, as well as vapor mitigation barrier products formed via the application of such compositions to various substrates.

Abstract: Provided is a resin composition, comprising: an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A); an isobutylene-based copolymer (B) containing a halogen atom; and a halogen scavenger (C), wherein a mass ratio (B/A) of the isobutylene-based copolymer (B) to the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) is from 5/95 to 45/55, and a content of the halogen scavenger (C) is from 0.01 to 1 part by mass based on 100 parts by mass of a total of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) and the isobutylene-based copolymer (B). Such a resin composition is excellent in gas barrier properties and flexibility and stably produced over a long period of time.
