Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to deriving identifying data from sample values representing video or audio. One claim recites a method including: obtaining identifying data from an electronic processor that derives the identifying data from sample values representing audio or video; providing the identifying data to a database; receiving advertising information from the database, the advertising information being associated with the audio or video, and the advertising information having been identified in the database utilizing at least the identifying data; and providing the advertising information to a consumer. Of course, other combinations are provided and claimed too.
Abstract:
An automated system checks networked computers, such as computers on the internet, for watermarked audio, video, or image data. A report listing the location of such audio, video or image data is generated, and provided to the proprietor(s) thereof identified by the watermark information.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an image forming apparatus including: an image input unit to input image data; a chase pattern generating unit to generate a chase pattern in which a plurality of chase pattern dots, each of which has a plurality of print dots, are arranged within a predetermined block; an overlay unit to overlay the chase pattern onto the image data; an image forming unit to form an image on a sheet based on the image data onto which the chase pattern is overlaid; and an overlaid position control unit to control an overlaid position of the chase pattern on the image data so as to shift the overlaid position by a shift amount that is equal to or more than a width of each of the chase pattern dots, when forming images on a plurality of sheets.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to obtaining information from a profile associated with a proprietor of a media object (e.g., video, images and/or audio), where the proprietor may change information within the profile from time to time. One claim recites a method including: receiving an identifier via the internet from a device including or communicating with a content processor that derives the identifier from sample values representing audio portions of a media object or from sample values representing picture portions of the media object; utilizing the identifier to interrogate a database; obtaining from the database at least some information from a profile associated with a proprietor of the media object, wherein the database is configured to allow a proprietor to change information within the profile; and providing the at least some information from the profile associated with the proprietor of the media object to a remote location. Other combinations are provided and claimed as well.
Abstract:
An Internet monitoring method identifies content on the Internet through embedded data and pattern matching, determines the owners of the content and notifies the owners of this use of their audio or images on the Internet.
Abstract:
A method for routing a facsimile according to one embodiment of the present invention includes analyzing text of a facsimile for at least one of a meaning and a context of the text; and routing the facsimile to one or more destinations based on the analysis. A method for routing a facsimile according to another embodiment of the present invention includes analyzing a pattern of light and dark areas of a facsimile; correlating the pattern to one or more forms; and routing the facsimile to one or more destinations based on the correlation. Additional systems and methods are also presented.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to digital watermarking and steganographic encoding. One claimed method recites a method including: obtaining video or image data, the video or image data comprising information steganographically hidden in data representing perceptual portions of the video or image data; analyzing the video or image data to obtain the hidden information, the information comprising data associated with suitability for viewing of the video or image data for a particular demographic; comparing the data to predetermined information; and based at least on said act of comparing, determining whether to render the video or image data for display. Other combinations are provided and claimed as well.
Abstract:
An image processing device includes: an image obtaining unit that obtains original images one by one from an original document on which image processing is to be performed by the image processing device; an output unit that outputs each of the original images obtained by the image obtaining unit; an information acquiring unit that acquires control information for controlling operations to be performed by the image processing device, the control information being extracted from a control image represented by a specific image in the original image obtained by the image obtaining unit; and a control unit that determines whether the control information acquired by the information acquiring unit requires an authentication, determines whether an output of the original image having the control information is restricted on the basis of a result of the authentication when the control information requires an authentication, restricts the output of the original image when the output is determined to be restricted, and controls the output unit to output the original image when the original image does not require an authentication or when the output of the original image is determined not to be restricted.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to steganographically encoded audio or image content (e.g., which may include video). In one implementation, a method is provided included: receiving audio or image content via a network, the audio or image content comprising auxiliary information steganographically encoded therein; decoding the auxiliary information from received audio or image content, the auxiliary information pointing to handling criteria associated with the audio or image content; obtaining the handling criteria associated with the audio or image content; and carrying out an action based at least in part on the handling criteria associated with the audio or image content. Other implementations are provided and claimed as well.
Abstract:
An image processing device inputs shading correction data, which can identify the image processing device itself, to a first hash function and generates comparison data. The image processing device inputs the shading correction data to a second hash function, and generates tracing identification data. The image processing device generates a tracing pattern from the tracing identification data, and adds the tracing pattern to output image data. The image processing device verifies the comparison data with standard data, which has been generated by inputting the shading correction data in a first function and previously stored in a storage device. When the comparison data matches the standard data, the image processing device permits to print out the output image data to which the tracing pattern has been added.
