Abstract:
An anatomical shoulder fixation system having a stem having a plurality of holes configured to receive bone screws. The stem having compressible suture locking members protruding from the flared head portion configured to receive and lock an elongated member. The plurality of holes configured to have locking mechanisms abutting the holes. The locking mechanisms preventing the bone screw from backing out while also providing the screw the freedom necessary to realign itself during the healing process. In one locking mechanism embodiment, a locking member utilizing a frustoconical split ring configured lock within a retention groove of the bone screw. Another embodiment has a rotating member with a protrusion that locks into a retention groove of the bone screw. An alternative embodiment has a rotating member that rotates over the bone screw utilizing a complimentary angle between the screw head and the protrusion.
Abstract:
An anatomical shoulder fixation system comprises a lower portion and an upper portion, the lower portion being a separate part and being coupled to the upper portion adjustably. For example, the relative position of the upper portion to the fixation system is capable of rotating and translating with relation to the lower part, accommodating placement on a shoulder even if displacement of the lesser tuberosity and the greater tuberosity due to fracture or dislocation. Examples include a flexible upper portion coupled to a lower portion or a more rigid upper portion joined to a lower portion, and combinations of these. In both examples, screws may be used to fix the lower portion prior to completing the displacement and fixation of the upper portion. For example, the lower portion may provide structures for attaching sutures, suitable for use with a curved needle shaft and suture.
Abstract:
The invention provides a system and method for storing a copy of data stored in an information store. In one embodiment, a data agent reads one or more blocks containing the data from the information store. The data agent maps the one or more blocks to provide a mapping of the blocks, and transmits the one or more blocks and mapping to a media agent for a storage device. The media agent stores the one or more blocks in the storage device according to the mapping.
Abstract:
A system and method of managing stored data in a storage management system. The storage management system includes a storage manager, a media agent connected to the storage manager, and a primary volume connected to the media agent. Multiple snapshots are taken of the primary volume. The snapshots are indexed by associating respective information with the snapshot. The indexed snapshots are copied to a recovery volume. In this way, browsing features are enabled for the user. The user may view the snapshots in a hierarchical format, and may even view snapshot data in association with the corresponding application. The resultant recovery volume may be used to replace a primary volume.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a microcapsule for controlled release of flavanoid compound and a process for preparation thereof. The microcapsule comprising a core particle consisting of a calcium salt, Pluronic F68 [poly (ethylene oxide-co-polypropylene co-polypropylene oxide), block poly oxyethylene-polypropylene block copolymer], loaded with a flavanoid compound, the resulting core particle having a plurality of alternate layers of cationic and anionic polyelectrolytes adsorbed thereon and an outer layer formed by a bile salt, wherein the flavanoid is ranging between 10 to 96% by weight.

Abstract:
The present invention provides computer systems, methods, and software products enabling the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery volumes having a reduced impact with regard to network traffic over a communications network. A disaster recovery volume is generally created at a local archival storage unit including therein at least one storage medium constituting the disaster recovery volume. The medium constituting the disaster recovery volume is associated with the primary volume thereby allowing the storage medium constituting the disaster recovery volume to be relocated to a remote archival storage unit at a remote location without compromising the association between the primary volume and the disaster recovery volume. Incremental changes to the primary volume may then be communicated and incorporated in to the disaster recovery relocated to the remote location.
Abstract:
A medical device comprises a mesh and suture combination, the suture having retaining mechanisms such as beads, balls, ratchet surfaces, oblate spheres and/or disks extending along at least a portion of the length of the suture. A clip or tab may be combined with the retaining mechanisms to fix the suture in place, such as during reconstructive surgery. For example, the mesh and suture combination may be used to fix tendons in place with respect to bones as a bone anchor and/or as a support mesh for repair of torn tendons.
Abstract:
A plate for use in the repair of a torn tendon or ligament and a method for using said plate are provided. The plate includes a plurality of screw holes. The plate also includes a suture anchor point disposed on the plate body. The plate further includes a porous portion configured to allow muscle tissue to migrate through the porous portion and into the bone as the tissue regrows. The method includes the step of securing the plate to a bone by inserting a bone screw and anchor screw(s) through the screw holes. The method proceeds to the step of sewing the sutures to the damaged tendon/ligament and securing the suture to the suture anchor point. Wherein the damaged tendon/ligament is attached to the plate, and wherein muscle tissue may migrate through the porous portion and into the bone as the tissue regrows.
