Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that facilitate automatic convergence and geometry alignment in projection systems. Preferably, an optical element such as a lens array is coupled to all areas of the projection system's screen and to a detector element such as a photocell array. In operation, each lens of the lens array is adapted to map an individual portion or region of the screen onto the photocell array. A microprocessor, controller or the like uses the data output from the photocells to instruct an alignment controller to center or steer the beams to compensate for convergence error at a particular location. In a center alignment mode, four (4) or more beacon dots located about the periphery of the screen are detected to determine screen size and position, which is used to center the video image and the centers of the mapped regions on the screen.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and systems for centrally and uniformly controlling the operation of a variety of devices, such as communication, consumer electronic, audio-video, analog, digital, 1394, and the like, over a variety of protocols within a network system and, more particularly, a control system and uniform user interface for centrally controlling these devices in a manner that appears seamless and transparent to the user. In a preferred embodiment, a command center or hub of a network system includes a context and connection permutation sensitive control system that enables centralized and seamless integrated control of all types of input devices. The control system preferably includes a versatile icon based graphical user interface that provides a uniform, on-screen centralized control system for the network system. The user interface, which includes a visual recognition system, enables the user to transparently control multiple input devices over a variety of protocols while operating on a single control layer of an input command device. In an alternative embodiment, the control system also enables gated signal pass-through control while avoiding signal jamming.

Abstract: An adjustable shim for aligning a component of a manufactured device comprising plates for mounting or abutting the shim to the component to be aligned and to a stationary portion of the device, an adjustable retainer wall extending between the plates and enclosing a volume filled with thermoplastic material having a melting temperature that exceeds the operating temperature of the component to be aligned. In operation, the component to be aligned is mounted to the shim and the shim is mounted to a stationary portion of the manufactured device and the device is then positioned on a tool defining a predetermined alignment of the component. The thermoplastic material is then heated to its melted state and the alignment of the component is adjusted to the predetermined alignment set by the tool while the thermoplastic material is in its melted state. The thermoplastic material is then cooled to fix the shim and component in the adjusted position.
