Abstract:
The present invention relates to an acoustic noise monitoring system for a wind turbine, comprising: a microphone for monitoring acoustic noise, the microphone adapted to be mounted to the exterior of a wind turbine nacelle; an input, the input adapted to receive operating conditions data from a wind turbine; a processor, the processor adapted to receive data from the microphone and the input; and storage memory, adapted to store the acoustic noise data and the operating conditions data. The processor is adapted to apply a transfer function to said acoustic noise data to correlate said data with a set of acoustic noise data measured at a remote location from the wind turbine. The system may comprise a controller adapted to generate a control signal, for outputting to a wind turbine controller, for adjusting the operating parameters of the wind analyser turbine in dependence on said correlated data.
Abstract:
A method of triggering a film containing an oxygen scavenger includes providing composition including a peroxide; and packaging the composition in a film including an oxygen scavenger; whereby the oxygen scavenger is triggered in the absence of ultraviolet light, visible light, and electron beam radiation by exposure to the peroxide or an associated enriched oxygen environment.
Abstract:
A duplex fiber optic splice has a fiber-receiving element, two clamping elements covering opposite faces of the fiber-receiving element, and a spring element. A bearing key may be inserted into a bearing channel in the fiber-receiving element and rotated resulting in resilient disengagement of each of said clamping faces from said fiber-receiving element face. The resilient disengagement of the clamping elements are independent of each other. The splice assembly may be used alone or in conjunction with an array ferrule, pre-terminated with a fiber stub, and a housing to provide an adhesiveless field terminable connector.
Abstract:
A method, system, and apparatus for communication and handoff in a cellular phone system in which candidate cell units which can support communication with a mobile phone are identified. Neighbor cell units which have recently supported communication with the mobile phone are also identified. Handoff threshold values for each candidate cell are determined based on the existing communication quality and whether the candidate cell is also a neighbor cell such that the handoff threshold is higher when the candidate cell is a neighbor cell. A decision to handoff is made when the improvement offered by candidate cell is greater than the handoff threshold.

Abstract:
Configurable electronic devices contain identifying information in a dual-ported memory. A plurality of un-configured units are assembled into a set. Using identifying information, a provisioning server matches each particular unit to configuration settings needed to appropriately configure that device for use by a specific end user. The configuration settings and/or data may be transmitted to the devices via their embedded RFID systems and stored in their dual-ported memory (via the first memory port). The electronic devices may comprise processor-based systems and, upon system initialization, the configuration data can be read from the memory via a second port thereof and used to configure the device for use by the user. In this way, devices may be configured as a set destined for a particular end user immediately prior to shipment and/or deployment and it is not necessary to separately track customized units prior to assembling them into a set.
Abstract:
A pet bed combination apparatus is constructed of three cushions, with two edges of each cushion attached to a different one of the other cushions. The pet bed combination has a front and rear opening and forms a tunnel structure that a burrowing pet can enter to and exit from either of the two openings. The pet bed combination is triangular in shape when viewed from the front or rear opening. The pet bed combination can be used by a pet for exercise or as a place to rest, and the dimensions of the pet bed combination are selected so that when the primary pet using the apparatus tunnels into the bed, the three inside surfaces of the apparatus are in contact with the pet.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a multilayer film having an active oxygen barrier and at least one layer containing an iron-based oxygen scavenging composition. In one embodiment, the active barrier layer comprises a composition that is a blend of a thermoplastic resin (A) having carbon-carbon double bonds substantially in its main chain, a transition metal salt (B), and an oxygen barrier polymer (C). In some embodiments the active barrier layer may also include a compatibilizer (D). The layer containing the iron-based oxygen scavenging composition helps to maintain the oxygen barrier properties of the active barrier layer, and under both retort and non-retort conditions. As a result, the useful shelf life of the multilayer film can be extended.
Abstract:
A network comprising: (a) a plurality of different receptacles for facilitating an optical connection to different information networks requiring different access authorization, each different receptacle coupled to one and only one different information network, each receptacle having an inner surface with a first geometry, the first geometry comprising at least a slot, a certain number of receptacles having different first geometries in which the slots are in different positions; and (b) a plurality of different plugs for coupling with the different receptacles, each plug having a second geometry, the second geometry comprising at least a key in a certain position, the certain number of plugs having different second geometries in which the keys are in different positions, each different first geometry corresponding to one and only one second geometry such that the plugs and receptacles of corresponding first and second geometries are mating pairs.
Abstract:
Box closing apparatus applies equal pressure around the joint between upper and lower portions of a box so that the portions are sealingly interconnected around the entire joint between the portions. The apparatus has upper and lower press plates between which the box is received. In addition, a tape dispenser is provided for application of tape to the joint after the upper and lower box portions are engaged. Rotation of the press plates is permitted to facilitate application of the tape to the box joint.
