    Abstract: A connector system including first housing having a first header, the first header including one or more conductive pads that are in electrical communication with a conductor. A second housing that is mateable with the first housing and includes a second header positioned on a mating face. The second header includes one or more conductive pad that are electrically engaged with a conductor and positioned in confronting relation with the one or more conductive pads of the first header. An interposer located between the first header and the second header, with an electrical contact that extends continuously through the interposer toward conductive pads on the first and second headers. The interposer is movable between a first position where the electrical contact is spaced away from the at least one of the conductive pads, and a second position where the electrical contact electrically engages one of the conductive pads.

    Abstract: An interconnection device is provided for temporary connection of a first electronic system to a second electronic system having a support substrate that includes an ordered array of conductive solder pads. A plurality of coil signal contacts are mounted to the conductive solder pads. Each one of the coil signal contacts comprises a central longitudinal axis, a top turn and a bottom turn that are arranged in spaced relation to one another. In this way, the bottom turn of one of the plurality of coil signal contacts is fastened to each of the conductive pads such that the top turns are spaced away from the support substrate.

    Abstract: The present invention is a cost effective module that provides high performance, high density and highly reliability interconnections needed between the various circuit devices that form a functional system or a part of a larger system. It includes circuit members having high speed, impedance-controlled transmission line signal paths, short land grid array interconnections between circuit members and, optionally, driver line terminators built into one of the circuit members, for maintaining high electrical performance. Suitable applications include mainframe computers, workstations, telecommunications networks, or other electronic equipment. The circuit members may be formed on conventional printed circuit cards with unpacked or packed circuit devices attached directly to the circuit members.     Abstract: A low insertion force connection using two interfitting components: a tapered element and a beam element which is deformed by the tapered element in the region where the primary forces are buckling, rather than bending. The present invention is based on pressure engaged insert/receptacle type of connections that are self-assembling, and require a minimized insertion force to produce a high and tunable contact force that is not applied through the component to be attached. Apart from differences in size, the same design principles are applicable from the chip level to the board level of a microelectronic system. The invention comprises a low cost pressure engaged electrical and thermal connection, based on insert/receptacle structures in which the contact force and insertion force are separated. Such a design allows tunable contact force while it minimizes the insertion force and allows also for self-assembly and reworkability. They can readily be used in area array configurations and in conformal 3-D electronic packaging structures in all connection levels of a microelectronic system.

    Abstract: The present invention features a tiled, substantially flat, panel display having the characteristic of visually imperceptible seams between the tiles for the intended viewing conditions, which include the perception thresholds of the human eye, the view distance, the display brightness and the level of the ambient light. The panel consists of an image source plane having spaced-apart pixels containing light-transmitting elements comprising single or multiple lightvalves. These lightvalves transmit monochromatic light, or primary color light spectra, for example, red, green and blue, in gray-scale and color displays, respectively. Each of the pixels is located along the image source plane at a uniform pitch greater than approximately 0.2 mm. Many adjacently-situated tiles are located in a plane in proximity to the image source plane. Secondary light rays can be controlled via light shields, aperture plates, masks and optical elements. The view angles of the tiled display may be further enhanced by using dispersive, optical elements such as microlens arrays. If desired, the brightness of the tiled display can be enhanced by increasing the backlight intensity or the collection of light by using optical, focusing elements such as microlens arrays.
