Abstract:
A method of preventing damage caused to healthy skin, hair or mucous membranes by free radicals, includes applying to the healthy skin, hair or mucous membrane a composition containing at least one product having a peroxidase activity capable of reducing organic peroxides and at least one antioxidant capable of neutralizing singlet oxygen, the composition being free of peroxide. The product having a peroxidase activity is present in an amount of from 0.005 to 5.0% by weight, and the antioxidant is present in an amount of from 0.005 to 3.0% by weight, with a weight ratio of the product having a peroxidase activity to the antioxidant of from 0.001 to 0.3. The product having a peroxidase activity capable of reducing organic peroxides is lactoperoxidase, and the antioxidant is selected from quinolines, polyphenols, and carotenoids.
Abstract:
Topically applicable dermocosmetic compositions for combating the clinical signs of skin aging and/or for improving the appearance of the skin, the scalp or the hair, comprise an anti-free-radical effective amount of at least one novel melatonin derivative having the structural formula (I): ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is a lower alkyl radical, R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical, and R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom or a lower acyl radical, with the proviso that the hydroxyl radical is in the 4-, 6- or 7-position on the indole ring system, or a physiologically acceptable salt, solvate or bioprecursor/prodrug thereof, formulated into a topically applicable, cosmetically/dermatologically acceptable vehicle, carrier or diluent therefor.
Abstract:
A process for topical treatment of cutaneous ageing involves applying to skin a cosmetic or dermatological composition containing, as an active ingredient, a glutathione alkyl ester. The glutathione alkyl ester corresponds to the formula: ##STR1## in which R represents an alkyl radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cosmetic and/or dermatological composition comprising at least one superoxide dismutase and at least one porphyrin. In a composition of this kind the porphyrin synergically reinforces the anti-free radical action of the superoxide dismutase. The composition is used in particular to combat cell ageing and/or for the protection of the skin, hair and/or mucosae against the harmful and/or unaesthetic effects caused by oxygen-containing free radicals.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to provide methods for the production of recombinant human Factor VIII, employing specific endoproteases, thus assuring full proteolytic processing of said factor even during its biosynthesis, consequently avoiding additional purification steps. Other objects of the present invention are the recombinant human Factor VIII as obtained by said methods, pharmaceutical compositions, related uses and therapeutic methods.
Abstract:
Container for transporting, storing and dispensing chemical products, including an inner shell made of fluoroplastic, particularly PFA, fitted at its upper part with a stopper device traversed by filling and dispensing connections, and an outer shell exhibiting a substantially cylindrical outer shape and an inner shape substantially matching that of the inner shell. The outer shell (1) is made up of a cylindrical part (6) which, at its lower part, is integral with a base (7) of quadrilateral cross-section and of greater cross-sectional area than that of the cylindrical part of the outer shell.
Abstract:
Cosmetic, hygienic or dermopharmaceutical composition characterized in that it comprises, in combination, at least one superoxide-dismutase and at least one melanin pigment. In such a composition the melanin pigment reinforces synergistically the action of the SOD against free radicals. Application especially to combating cell aging and to the protection of the skin, of the hair and of the mucosa against the harmful and unaesthetic effects caused by free radicals.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a shoe sole device comprising two superposed chassis articulated relative to one another. For preference, movement-absorbing means, which notably absorb pivoting movements of the chassis relative to one another are provided. The invention also covers a shoe having such a shoe sole device and an assembly rig for manufacturing such a shoe.
Abstract:
Cosmetic composition, characterized in that it contains titanium dioxide nanopigments coated with at least aluminium derivatives in a cosmetically acceptable, fairly nonpolar medium having a conductivity of less than 100 .mu.Siemens and containing at least one fatty phase.
