Abstract:
A completion tool for gravel pack and frac pack operations for installing a sump packer and perforating a casing in one trip of a work string. The completion tool is disposed on the end of a work string and includes a perforating gun and a packer attached to the distal end of the completion tool by a coupling. The coupling is such that once the packer is set, the rest of the completion tool can be detached from the packer. After detachment, the completion tool can be repositioned to fire the perforating gun. Positioning of the packer and perforating gun may be accomplished by correlating off of other equipment or by use of logging-while-drilling or measurement-while-drilling equipment incorporated into the completion tool.
Abstract:
The present invention provides processes and compounds that are useful in the preparation of (3α,3aβ,6ahexahydrofuro[2,3-b]furan-3-ol and diastereoisomers thereof, which are useful in the preparation of compounds that may be inhibitors of HIV aspartyl protease.
Abstract:
A method of making a structural member from hemp stalks includes feeding a plurality of the hemp stalks into a baler that bundles and aligns the hemp stalks in a common axial direction. A hemp cord is used to bound the hemp stalks into a continuous hemp extrusion, which is then cut into a plurality of hemp logs that are then saturated with an adhesive mixture by an adhesive sprayer that coats each side of the hemp log, or a dip tank. Each hemp log is then introduced into a mold and compressed by 60%-80% to form an interlocking hemp board, a plurality of which are combined to form the structural member after drying by applying the adhesive mixture and then compressing the plurality of interlocking hemp boards in a press until cured. Such a structural member may then be further cut into a finished product, such as two-by-fours.
Abstract:
A packer and actuator therefor configured for use in relatively high hydrostatic pressure environments. In a described embodiment, a packer for use in a subterranean well includes an actuator for setting the packer. The actuator includes multiple pistons circumferentially spaced apart from each other.
Abstract:
A packer includes one dual, or double acting, slip and a single acting slip positioned on a mandrel on opposite sides of a packing element and a setting cylinder. The single acting slip is designed to resist forces acting on the mandrel in one direction. Setting forces generated by the setting cylinder are coupled to the mandrel through a releasing sleeve. When the releasing sleeve is decoupled from the mandrel, the slip setting forces on both slips and the packing element are released and the packer can be retrieved from a well. In a preferred form, the releasing sleeve may be decoupled from the mandrel by multiple means.
Abstract:
A downhole tool assembly including a sealing device and a sensing device for sensing parameters associated with the operation of the sealing device.
Abstract:
Methods of releasing a well tool set in a wellbore are provided. In various embodiments, a well tool, such as a packer, is released from sealing and gripping engagement within a wellbore using alternate methods. A dual-string packer is described in which the packer may be released by severing a mandrel of the packer, displacing a piston of the packer, or by displacing a retaining device in a flow passage of the packer.
