Abstract: A combination closed-circuit washer and drier apparatus having a washing cycle and a drying cycle. The apparatus comprises a unitary housing having a tub and a tumbler within the tub, the tub also having an air inlet and air outlet which allows air to flow through the tub, wherein air flowing from the air inlet is in communication with the tumbler. The apparatus also includes a desiccant recharging system located within the unitary housing having a entrance and an exit, the entrance coupled to the air outlet and the exit coupled to the air entrance, thus allowing a continuous flow of air through the system. The desiccant recharging system also includes a diverting valve that directs the flow of air primarily through the desiccant system in a closed-loop during the wash cycle. The diverting valve alters the air flow between the washing cycle (desiccant regeneration) to the drying cycle (desiccant water adsorption).

Abstract: An apparel protecting device for isolating a pocket from a tool attached to the pocket includes a panel. A fold is positioned in the panel and defines a first section of the panel, a second section of the panel, and a slot that is positioned between the first section and the second section. The second section is configured to be inserted into a pocket of an article of clothing to position the first section on an exterior of the pocket. The panel is configured to be inserted into a clip of a tool, such as a tape measurer, to couple the tool to the panel. The first section is configured to be positioned between the tool and the pocket to isolate the tool from the pocket to prevent damage to the article of clothing.

Abstract: An improved technique of redistributing files on a set of storage disks involves specifying a tolerable difference in the load between a most-loaded storage disk and a least-loaded storage disk. From such a specified tolerable difference, a processor generates a file transfer plan listing a set of files to be moved, from which storage disks the files are to be moved and to which storage disks to move the files. File transfer plans which result from allowing the maximum difference in load between the storage disks to be a small but finite amount typically result in a very small number of files to be moved, resulting in much smaller processing times for transferring the files.

Abstract: An electrical power monitoring system includes a proxy server between (1) monitoring devices coupled to an electrical power distribution system for sensing and storing data representing operating characteristics of the power distribution system, and (2) at least one client device coupled to the monitoring devices for requesting data from the monitoring device and processing, storing and presenting data received from the monitoring devices. A communications network is coupled to the monitoring and client devices, and proxy server is coupled to the communications network for processing and transforming messages and context-specific caching. The proxy server receives messages from the client device as a virtual device, processes the messages, and alters the messages before communicating the messages to the monitoring devices to which the messages are directed, or defers communication of at least portions of the messages to the actual monitoring devices to which the requests are directed until a later time.
