Abstract:
A system for time-sequential LED-string excitation includes a controller coupled to at least two LED strings and arranged to sequentially excite the strings—preferably by pulse-width modulating their respective currents—such that each string conducts a desired current and/or provides a desired light intensity. Individual string currents and/or light intensities are provided to the controller as feedback signals. The controller preferably pulse-width modulates each string such that it conducts a current which approximates the performance that would be provided if the string were made to continuously conduct an ‘optimal’ current. A voltage converter may be included to provide the supply voltage connected to the top of each LED string, and to adjust the supply voltage as needed to ensure that each string conducts a desired current.

Provided is a processing apparatus for enabling a plurality of processes to be conducted on a sample within a microfluidic or nanofluidic cartridge, the apparatus comprising: a) a plurality of processing modules for facilitating the processes conducted on the sample within the cartridge; b) a coupling means for reversibly coupling the cartridge to the apparatus; c) a transport means capable of bringing the cartridge coupled to the coupling means into communication with each of the processing modules; wherein the plurality of processing modules includes a component isolation module capable of facilitating a separation process within the cartridge, a manipulator module capable of facilitating the movement of fluids within the cartridge; and an optical module capable of interacting optically with the cartridge.
Abstract:
Described are various methods and apparatuses that provide for variants for multiple resource types and efficiently managing these resources by use of common variables and an organized file structure. A file structure is organize by a common variables, such as the $lang variable, and includes resource references such that once the common variable is defined, similar resources can be referenced using the same instruction by the use of modifying the common variable. Multiple resource types, including text, images as well as other resource types may be managed using the file structure disclosed herein.

Compounds are provided which bind to and are agonists, antagonists or inverse agonists of the CB2 receptor, the compounds having the general formula wherein, R1, R2, A, Y, X, Ar1 and Ar2 have the meanings given in the specification, and the preparation and use thereof. The compounds are valuable CB2 receptor modulators.
Abstract:
A compound of Formula (IA) or Formula (IB) wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and R8 are as defined herein, or a tautomer, prodrug, solvate, or salt thereof; pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds, and methods of modulating the glucocorticoid receptor function and methods of treating disease-states or conditions mediated by the glucocorticoid receptor function or characterized by inflammatory, allergic, or proliferative processes in a patient using these compounds.
Abstract:
An Internet Access Device (IAD) is pre-configured with first, generic configuration information designating the address of a configuration server with which it will establish a communication session when the IAD is first powered up and connected to the Internet. The configuration server then downloads a second, specific configuration to the IAD, such as a hotline number designating a specific speech server, and creates a network data record to link a unique identifier for the IAD, such as a serial number, with a user account. When the IAD goes off-hook, the IAD connects directly to a speech server using the second configuration. The speech server provides a smart dial tone, such as a voice prompt. The speech server responds to a verbal request spoken by a user by performing a corresponding activity, such as placing a telephone call or providing voicemail access.

Abstract:
An IC monitoring chip (10) for remotely monitoring the output of a thermal diode (5) formed in the substrate of a CPU (2) for monitoring the temperature of a thermal plate (3) of the CPU (2) comprises a signal conditioning circuit (12) which relays the output from the diode (5) to an analog-to-digital converter (14), which in turns outputs a two's compliment signal to an adder (22). The adder (22) adds the two's compliment signal to a temperature offset value stored in a temperature offset register (17), which compensates for the temperature difference between the diode (5) and the thermal plate (3). Comparators (24) and (25) compare the output from the adder (22) with upper and lower predetermined temperature limits in upper and lower limit registers (19) and (20) for determining the temperature of the thermal plate (3). The temperature offset value is stored in ROM (35) of the computer (1) and is written to the register (17) each time the computer (1) is powered up. The IC chip (10) operates independently of the CPU (2).
