Abstract:
A hydrocarbon composition such as a lubricating or specialty oil containing a selected heteroaromatic nitrogen compound as an antioxidant/metal deactivator/electrical insulator having the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein each X is C or N with at least one X being N; Y is C or N; R is H or CH.sub.2 NR"'.sub.2 where each R" is H or alkyl of 1 to 20 carbons; R' is H, SR"' OR "' or NR"'.sub.2 with each R"' being H or alkyl of 1 to 20 carbons.
Abstract:
A combination of a low and a high molecular weight polyalkylmethacrylate has been found to be effective in reducing the pour point of a wax isomerate to a level that cannot be obtained with conventional pour point depressants. In a preferred embodiment, the wax isomerate is a slack wax isomerate.
Abstract:
The rust inhibition capability of a lubricating oil having an average ring number per mole of less than 1.5 can be enhanced by adding a rust inhibitor that is capable of reducing the oil/water interfacial tension to between about 1 to about 4 mN/m.
