Abstract:
A test device detects current in a two-wire line, such as a telephone loop, to enable a short circuit or the like to be determined at a remote location. The current at a predetermined line location is sensed by a simple switch means. Switching of the line, such as a working line, is controlled with another two-wire line, such as a spare line. Control is provided to select one of two loads terminating the line. The test device is connected in series on one of the line wires. The test device has a constant ohmic value in a low current range when the in-line current is less than a predetermined current value. The ohmic value increases sharply to a higher value in a high current range when the in-line current is greater than the predetermined current value. The test device comprises a relay having an operate coil and a resting contact which are series-connected between the terminals of the test device, and a resistor connected in parallel with the contact.
Abstract:
This electric contact device is a variant of those described in Anizan et al., French Pat. No. 2,385,208.The composite unit formed by the insulating coating and the conducting material form a single insulator-conductor unit. The electrical duct penetrates the insulation to reach the conductor. The composite unit is made of enamelled metal, a metal on which insulation is deposited by "shoopage" (a process apparently involving the deposit of a vaporized metal) or of a cermet (ceramic alloy) from whose surface the metallic phase has been eliminated. The duct may be cylindrical, a groove, or grooves crossing at a right angle.Usable for many types of electric contact.
Abstract:
A gas discharge display screen with a self-scanning function is described herein. All the electrodes are positioned coplanary on a single surface of a rear insulating plate. First and second pluralities of parallel electrodes connected respectively independently accomplish respectively the scanning and displaying functions. A third plurality of parallel electrodes perpendicular to the first and second pluralities of electrodes cooperates with a particular electrode for preionizing the first gas cells of the matrix screen lines.
