Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel and a fabricating method thereof for minimizing a resistance of a silver dot caused by thickness of a silver dot and preventing distortion of a common voltage are disclosed. In the liquid crystal display panel, a common pad may be formed on a first substrate. A common electrode supplies a common voltage through a common pad to a second substrate opposite to the first substrate. A conductive dot is substantially formed between the common electrode and the common pad to electrically connect the common electrode and common pad. An organic protective film minimizes conductive dot height on the first substrate at an area substantially corresponding to the common pad.

Abstract: Disclosed is a trans-reflective type LCD device and a method for fabricating the same wherein the method reduces the required number of masks by using a half-tone mask and a diffraction exposure process. Further, by using a half-tone mask and diffraction exposure process, a desired uneven surface may be formed on the reflective part of the pixel region without resorting to thermal processes that may otherwise degrade an insulating layer under the reflective electrode. Accordingly, an organic insulating material may be used between the transmissive electrode and the reflective electrode.

Abstract: An LCD is fabricated using a diffraction mask with transmissive, semi-transmissive, and opaque regions. The semi-transmissive region permits formation of a transmission, reflection, or pixel electrode, depending on the type of LCD being fabricated, using the same masking process as that to produce contact holes in an insulating film and a conductive layer. Photoresist exposed through the semi-transmissive region is partially removed during developing that completely removes photoresist in the transmissive or opaque region. The contact holes are formed in the region in which the photoresist is completely removed, the photoresist and underlying conductive layer in the semi-transmissive region are then removed, and the remaining photoresist is stripped.
