Abstract:
This invention comprises a semiconducting polymer having a permittivity greater than 3.4 at 1000 Hz and a charge mobility in the pure state greater than 10−7 cm2V−1s−1 and more preferably greater than 10−6 cm2V−1s−1. Preferred polymers include repeating units of triarylamines which have specific cyano and/or alkoxy substitution. They are suitable for use in electronic components such as organic thin film transistors.
Abstract:
A gas turbine engine component having an axial pin stop assembly that reduces stress around a seal pin damper slot between a platform and a buttress is disclosed. The seal pin damper slot is extended to the leading edge of the buttress and an axial pin stop seal extends into the pin damper slot to limit movement of the seal pin damper while relieving stress concentration at the interface between the buttress and platform.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention may utilize one or more techniques, alone or in combination, to maximize a surface area of a receiver that is configured to convert light into another form of energy. One technique enhances collection efficiency by controlling a size, shape, and/or position of a cell relative to an expected illumination profile under various conditions. Another technique positions non-active elements (such as electrical contacts and/or interconnects) on surfaces likely to be shaded from incident light by other elements of the receiver. Another technique utilizes embodiments of interconnect structures occupying a small footprint. According to certain embodiments, the receiver may be cooled by exposure to a fluid such as water or air.
Abstract:
A guitar strap securing member has a head and a shaft extending from the head. The shaft is dimensioned to pass though a through-hole of a strap. The head is substantially larger than the through-hole. The strap securing member shaft secures the guitar strap to a receptacle on and supported by a guitar body by inserting the shaft of the guitar strap securing member through the through through-hole of the strap and into the receptacle. The head of the inserted guitar strap securing member, larger than the through-hole, and the shaft in the channel, secures the guitar strap.
Abstract:
A gas turbine vane to improve vane performance by addressing known failure mechanisms. A cooling circuit to the trailing edge of a vane airfoil is fed from the outer diameter platform, which prevents failure due to an oxidized and eroded airfoil trailing edge. The gas turbine includes an outer diameter platform, a hollow airfoil and an inner diameter platform with a plurality of cooling tubes extending radially through the airfoil. The cooling tubes are open at the outer diameter end and closed with covers at the inner diameter end. The inner diameter platform is also cooled and includes a meterplate for a portion of the cooling passageway and includes an undercut to improve thermal deflections of the inner diameter platform.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention are related to novel therapeutic drugs, drug combinations, and associated methods for treating or preventing pulmonary disease, including pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma and COPD, and heart failure, together with other pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases and their complications. More particularly, aspects of the present invention are related to the use of cicletanine and ruboxistaurin as monotherapies or in combination with other agents for treatment of disease. Cicletanine may be used as pure (+) or (−) enantiomers or as a racemic or non-racemic mixture of those enantiomers.
Abstract:
A compressor diaphragm for a gas turbine engine having improved wear capability, manufacturability, and assembly techniques is disclosed. The diaphragm includes a shiplap-type joint at an outer vane platform for connecting to adjacent vane assemblies and a clamshell-like assembly of a seal box secures and seals regions around the inner vane platform of the compressor diaphragm so as to reduce wear between the seal box and the vane assemblies. The inner platform of the diaphragm segments are fastened to each other through circumferentially-oriented fasteners at the inner diameter platform.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention include structures and methods for enhancing illumination uniformity from solar concentrators. Certain embodiments may use features on a reflective layer to globally correct for deviation in reflective behavior from a desired shape. Local features such as facets on a reflective layer are formed such that the resulting illumination profile represents a superposition of multiple facets. Features may be formed on a back film to correct the reflectance of the back film. In some embodiments, features may be formed on a front film to correct a profile from refraction. In some embodiments the corrections are for line concentrators. Global and local correction techniques may be used together, and may be used on front film or reflective film(s) together or separately. Global and/or local correction may also be used in combination with other approaches, such as secondary optic receiver compensation.
