Abstract:
A control system is disclosed. The control system has a switched reluctance generator coupled to provide electrical power through a DC bus to a motor. The control system also has a controller in communication with the switched reluctance generator, the motor, and the DC bus. The controller is configured to receive an indication of an amount torque or power required by the motor, determine a conduction angle of the switched reluctance generator based on the amount of torque or power required by the motor; and energize the DC bus with the electrical power provided by the switched reluctance generator based on the optimal conduction angle.
Abstract:
A panel of biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer was examined in the saliva of a cohort of 1) healthy women, 2) women with benign lesions of the breast and 3) women with diagnosed breast cancer. Recognized tumor markers c-erbB-2 (erb), cancer antigen 15-3 (CA 15-3), and tumor suppresser oncogene protein 53 (p53) were found in the saliva of all three groups of women. The levels of erb and CA 15-3 in the cancer patients evaluated, however, were significantly higher than the salivary levels of healthy controls and benign tumor patients. Conversely, pantropic p53 levels were higher in controls as compared to those women with breast cancer and those with benign tumors.
Abstract:
The control system may have an electric motor and a traction device connected to an output of the motor. The control system may also have a decelerator and a controller. The controller may be in communication with the motor and the decelerator. The controller may be configured to determine a creep torque and apply the creep torque to the traction device when the decelerator is actuated.
Abstract:
A method of making a heterogeneous catalyst, the catalyst produced therefrom, and the use of the catalyst, comprising mixing a dried ion exchange resin with a solution of a ketone and a metal, swelling the ion exchange resin, distributing the metal in the resin, and transforming without reducing agents the metal to zero valent at a temperature below 120° C.
Abstract:
A method of securing an elongate member in the ground which includes the steps of embedding the member within a matching size and shaped hole in the ground then ensnaring the member with a ground anchor that passes substantially through the member intersecting the member. The invention also applies to a member with a ground anchor positioned therein and also having a tightening nut.

Abstract:
This invention relates to collet-type splices and collet-type dead ends and methods for splicing together two electricity transmission cables or terminating one electricity transmission cable, the cables comprising a composite core surrounded by a conductor. The collet-type fittings use a collet inside a collet housing to hold the composite cores without penetrating or otherwise weakening the core itself. The composite cores can be stripped of the aluminum conductor to provide a bond between the collet and the composite core. The collet seats within the collet housing thereby holding the composite core with frictional forces. The design of the collet enables the composite core to stretch longitudinally through the collet to strengthen the frictional hold.
