Abstract:
A security information and graphic image fusion system to be used with verification equipment to provide a tamper proof labeled article having security information thereon. The label comprises a printable sheet having at least one invisible IR or UV image, or both, printed thereon, at least one visible image printed thereon, and an over-coating layer thereon. The invisible IR or UV image, or both, provide security information. The visible image provides the graphic image. The label is permanently fused by an in-mold molding process to an article made of plastic, rubber or the combination thereof to render it tamper proof.
Abstract:
A method of decorating a molded article is provided in which a mold insert, the mold insert, comprising a plurality of flock fibers, a heat resistant release sheet, a release adhesive, a permanent adhesive layer, and a forming film is thermoformed. During thermoforming, the heat resistant release sheet is positioned between a surface of a forming mold and the flock fibers to protect the flock fibers from overheating.
Abstract:
A process for forming a flocked article is provided that includes the steps of: (a) cutting a pre-formed or solid adhesive film into a desired shape; (b) removing a first portion of the cut pre-formed adhesive film from a second portion of the cut pre-formed adhesive film; and (c) heating and applying pressure to the cut pre-formed adhesive film to adhere the film to flock to form a flocked article.
Abstract:
The processes and articles of the present invention use thermally stable and loft retentive polymers in sublimation printed flock fibers, which are particularly attractive for forming molded and heat laminated articles. The process and articles use high, medium and low energy dyes on the fibers. A preferred polymer for use in the fibers is poly(cyclohexylene-dimethylene terephthalate).
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for molding a part. The method includes steps of heating molding materials in a plasticator at a predetermined temperature; mixing the molding materials to create a molten suspension wherein a majority of the reinforcing fibers remain generally undamaged; extruding the molten suspension to form a billet and then placing the billet in a compression mold and compressing the billet with the compression mold to mold a part. In one embodiment, the reinforcing fibers are distributed throughout the part.
