Abstract: The present invention relates to the method of increasing the strength of high-pressure vessels. According to the invention, the method is characterized in that the electric current is passed through the wall of the vessel, the current intensity being selected to suit the internal fluid pressure in the vessel, so that the compression forces acting on the vessel wall in the direction perpendicular to that of the current flowing through the wall counterbalance the internal fluid pressure in the vessel.
