Abstract:
The present disclosure provides embodiments seismic energy sources configured to generate enhanced shear wave energy in order to more accurately determine the distribution and orientation of fractures in subterranean formations. At least one seismic energy source includes an elongate rod having a first end and a second end, a detonator coupled to the first end, and a bull plug coupled to the second end. An explosive is helically-wrapped about the elongate rod continuously from the first end to the second end and configured to detonate such that a time-delayed detonation is achieved which induces increased shear wave energy in the surrounding formations.
Abstract:
Apparatus for the manufacture of charcoal, comprising a unit having walls defining a primary combustion chamber, and a material inlet for allowing a feed of wood chips though said material inlet into said apparatus. A trough is located at a lower height than said material inlet such that material passing through said material inlet is able to fall into the trough. An air inlet is located below the material inlet such that, when wood chips are located within the trough piled up to said material inlet, air passing from said air inlet passes through said wood-chips and into the primary combustion chamber.
Abstract:
An aerodynamic cargo box configuration includes a bottom portion hinged to a lid. The lid has a receptacle for receiving a photovoltaic light device substantially flush with, and below, the outer surface of the lid. A photovoltaic light assembly may include a cup portion and a top portion, the top portion containing a photovoltaic cell and the bottom portion containing electronics and an array of one or more light elements configured to provide optimal illumination to an interior space of an elongate rectangular cargo box.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a process for producing water-absorbing polymer, which comprises a base polymer A being mixed with a first aqueous solution B of at least one surface postcrosslinker and a second aqueous solution C of at least one polyvalent cation and thermally treated, wherein said base polymer A is based on at least 50% neutralized acid-functional monomer and said solutions B and C are metered wholly or partly concurrently through separate nozzles whereby a water-absorbing polymer having a high saline flow conductivity value is obtained.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for producing water-absorbing polymeric particles by polymerizing a monomer solution, which comprises removing the polymer gel from the reactor when the gel temperature is at least 50° C. and the monomer conversion is not more than 90 mol %, and also to a process for producing hygiene articles.
Abstract:
Swellable hydrogel-forming polymers having high permeability Swellable hydrogel-forming polymer comprising at least one hydrophilic polymer of dendritic structure and at least one water-insoluble phosphate, a process for preparing the swellable hydrogel-forming polymer and also its use in hygiene articles.
Abstract:
Strut designs for assisting opening and closing of a cargo box lid are provided. A strut includes two or more arms biased toward one or more directions by spring devices. Struts may be used on a single side opening box or a dual-side opening box, and may exhibit degrees of symmetrical design and movement for balanced operation.
Abstract:
The transceiver features a fast de-excitation circuit, by means of which the transceiver can be very quickly de-energized or de-excited after sending of signals. The fast de-excitation circuit can be realized in the simplest case as a controllable switch with series-connected resistor. The transceiver is thus ready to receive signals again very fast, i.e. in the range of a few oscillation periods. With bidirectional data communication between transceiver and transponder the danger of malfunctions is avoided or at least reduced to a minimum level.
Abstract:
To prepare superabsorbents with a low residual monomer content, a salt of urea with an inorganic acid is added to the monomer mixture before or during the polymerization or to the polymer after the polymerization but before a heat treatment which follows the polymerization.
Abstract:
Superabsorbents comprising a compound of the formula (I) in which M is a hydrogen atom, an ammonium ion, a monovalent metal ion or one equivalent of a divalent metal ion of groups 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 12 or 14 of the periodic table of the elements; R1 is OH or NR4R5 where R4 and R5 are each independently H or C1-C6-alkyl; R2 is H or an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aryl group, where this group optionally has 1, 2 or 3 substituents which are each independently selected from C1-C6-alkyl, OH, O—C1-C6-alkyl, halogen and CF3; and R3 is COOM, SO3M, COR4, CONR4R5 or COOR4, where M, R4 and R5 are each as defined above or, when R2 is aryl which is optionally substituted as specified above, are also H, salts thereof or mixtures of such compounds and/or salts thereof, exhibit improved stability to discoloration in the course of storage under elevated temperatures and/or elevated air humidity.
