Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for providing location determination in a configured environment in which Global Navigation Satellite System Signals are not available. In this regard, local beacon systems generate spread spectrum CDMA signals that are received by spectral compression units that derive physically meaningful observations without a requirement for correlation of the intercepted energy by means of the known spreading codes. The invention can coexist with communication assets already in place, and the design allows for self calibration, which simplifies installation and usage. The invention has utility in applications in which GNSS signals are unavailable or limited, for example, in warehouse inventory management, in search and rescue operations and in asset tracking in indoor environments.

Disclosed is a medical device used to prevent the cross-contamination of patients or injectors in which various components placed on the injector minimize or eliminate back splash contamination of the injector.
Abstract:
A cartridge consisting of a hollow casing of molded plastic substance and an ink-retention sponge disposed in the casing, together with a stylus carried by the casing, for producing ink lines on a chart, from the ink content of the casing and contained retention sponge. A wall of the casing is transparent to enable the retention sponge therein and the ink carried thereby to be viewed by a user from the exterior of the casing. The intensity of the observed ink color is an indication as to the amount of ink remaining in the casing and sponge.
Abstract:
A pointing device includes accelerometers and rotational sensors that are coupled to a processor. The processor samples the accelerometers and rotational sensors to detect gravity and pointing device motion and uses algebraic algorithms to calculate roll compensated cursor control signals. The processor transmits the cursor control signals to a receiver that is coupled to an electronic device that moves the cursor on the visual display.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a novel architecture of a passive RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) tag which is highly miniature in size, capable of metal mounting and suitable for global operation in the entire UHF band (860 MHz to 960 MHz) without necessity of territory specific optimization of the antenna design layout. This invention envisages a novel antenna design that consists of a circular or rectangular microstrip antenna of ultra-small size (−λ/50), which is suitably loaded in shunt by lumped components resistor (R), inductor (L) and capacitor (C). The feed point, feed layout and the loading values are so optimized that a single tag will display optimum performance in all the territories. This invention relates to a method of encapsulating the passive tag with radio transparent materials like Radel® R, as well as a metal backplane so that the encapsulated tag can withstand autoclaving while maintaining the required performance.

Abstract:
A curemeter has dies maintainable at a substantially uniform vulcanization temperature, the dies being arranged to be separable and for closure, and which when closed define a cavity for accommodating a sample of compounded rubber, means for subjecting the sample of compounded rubber to oscillating shear strain and means for obtaining a signal derived from such oscillation and correlating with the degree of vulcanization of the sample. The curemeter of the invention is characterized by also having separable dies maintainable at the same substantially uniform vulcanization temperature as the first said dies, and which when closed define at least one cavity for accommodating a further sample of the compounded rubber for vulcanization under static conditions.
