    Abstract: A mechanism for moving into and out of an enclosure having in wall has a support having a first column for disposal inside of the enclosure on a first side of the wall and a second column for disposal outside of the enclosure on a second side of the wall. A platform for straddling the wall is disposed on the support. A seat is slidingly and rotatably arranged on the platform and has a first position on the platform for loading, a second position for allowing the user to lift a leg, and a third position wherein the user is in position for washing. A lock is disposed between the seat and the platform for locking or unlocking the seat in each of the first, second and third positions.

    Abstract: This invention relates to an improved form of computer mouse. In particular, the physical form of this mouse is designed such that the hand position required to manipulate the mouse is a natural “resting” or neutral position. This position will allow the mouse to be used for long periods of time while minimizing pain and disability in the hand and wrist. The hand is inclined to the horizontal plane typically at an angle of at least 50 degrees. The fingers are flexed, the thumb and index finger are opposed and in close proximity. The wrist is not pulled backwards nor drooped, nor is it angled to one side or the other. There is no deviated wrist movement. Wrist movement is in the natural plane of the wrist.

    Abstract: A probe type instrument to characterize tissue type that combines optical and electrical tests in a single device capable of providing data of both types almost simultaneously from very small, e.g. 3-10 mm diameter, areas of tissue surface. Key to this approach is an instrument capable of making almost simultaneous electrical and optical measurements on the same small areas of tissue, before being moved to scan adjacent tissue areas. In the preferred operation of the system fourteen measurement cycles are performed per second and each measurement involves a complex sequence of events, including (1) three optical and fifteen electrical tissue stimulations with subsequent detection, filtering and digitization of the tissue response; (2) extraction of specific parameters from the optical and electrical signals; (3) checking for errors, and subsequent classification of the extracted parameters into various tissue type categories; and (4) feedback to the system operator. Thus on the order of 15,000 measurements are made per one minute patient examination.

    Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the occurrence of an event, e.g. the presence of a liquid leak. The apparatus includes an elongate flexible core consisting of elongate elements which are twisted together. The elongate elements comprise first and second sensing members, which each have an electrically conductive outer surface and are physically separated from one another, and at least two elongate insulating members. These elongate elements are covered by a flexible braid which exerts a compressive force on the core. In one aspect of the invention, the flexible braid undergoes a reversible change in appearance when exposed to electrolyte, indicating the location of a leak.

    Abstract: A grab bar or other accessory is attached to a wall with at least one anchor assembly. The anchor assembly can be removed and repeatedly used as needed. The anchor assembly includes a vertical support beam, an arm having a hub portion and an arm portion, and a mounting plate that is supported by the arm. The arm portion is received within a slot formed within the vertical support beam. A spring is attached to the vertical support beam and cooperates with the arm portion to hold the arm in place during installation. The mounting plate includes a plurality of hole locations spaced radially outwardly from a center opening. The mounting plate is rotatable to position the plurality of hole locations at one of many different desired mount positions for a variety of grab bars.
