Abstract:
Methods for making sulfide scavenging compositions are provided. The compositions are secondary amine-formaldehyde adduct (SAFA) scavengers comprising less than about 40 wt % N-methyl secondary amines therein. The methods include reacting secondary amines with formaldehyde. Methods for removing sulfides from fluid streams are also provided. The methods include adding secondary amine-formaldehyde adduct (SAFA) scavengers to fluid streams. SAFA scavengers comprising less than about 40 wt % N-methyl secondary amines of the total weight of SAFA scavengers are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a process for the preparation of pentaerythritol diphosphites via a one-pot, direct esterification of phosphorus trichloride with pentaerithritol, and either an alkylphenol or an arylalkylphenol which functions both as a reactant and as a solvent, with a phase transfer catalyst such as a quaternary ammonium salt.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a polymer derived from: reaction of glycidyl (meth)acrylate, allyl glycidyl ether or [(vinyloxy)methyl]oxirane with ammonia or primary amine to obtain a mixture of monomer compounds; reaction of the mixture of monomer compounds with at least one of acrylic acid, vinyl alcohol, vinyl acetate, acrylamide, methylacrylic acid, and methylacrylamide to obtain an intermediate polymer; and reaction of the intermediate polymer with a dithiocarbamic acid salt. Methods for using the polymer are also described herein.

Methods for reducing sulfides from fluid streams are provided. The methods comprise adding secondary amine-formaldehyde adduct (SAFA) scavengers to fluid streams. The SAFA scavengers added comprise less than about 40 wt % N-methyl secondary amines of the total weight of SAFA scavengers. Methods for distilling N-methyl secondary amines from secondary amine-formaldehyde adduct (SAFA) scavengers are also provided. Purified SAFA scavengers are also disclosed.

Abstract:
The present invention provides an effective method of inhibiting corrosion on metallic surfaces in contact with a fluid contained in a closed loop industrial fluid system, which comprises adding to such fluid an effective corrosion controlling amount of a combination of an organic diacid, a triamine and a phosphonate compound.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions and methods for providing an improved means of modifying asphalt with a polymer. More particularly, this invention provides a crosslinking system to improve the properties of polymer modified asphalt. Compositions of the present invention contain asphalt, a rubber or elastomeric polymer, and a crosslinkable component, particularly a bismaleimide or a bismaleimide in combination with a difunctional crosslinkable monomer.
Abstract:
The corrosion of metals in contact with aqueous alkanolamine solutions in acid gas removal units is inhibited by adding to the alkanolamine solution a corrosion inhibiting amount of a polythiaether compound.
