Abstract:
A heat pack using supercooled aqueous salt solution that resists premature activation at low temperatures is disclosed. The heat pack comprises two sheets that are bonded together to form a laminated sheet. The heat pack has a first and second compartment. A frangible seal separates the two compartments. One of the compartments contains a supercooled aqueous salt solution. The salt solution contains 15 to 25 percent glycerin by mass.
Abstract:
A thermotherapeutic pack and a method of manufacturing a thermotherapeutic pack are disclosed. The thermotherapeutic pack comprises a pouch formed from at least one laminate sheet. The at least one laminate sheet includes an outer polyester layer, an intermediate nylon layer and an inner polyethylene layer. The pouch is permanently sealed closed. A thermotherapeutic composition is pre-loaded into the pouch. The thermotherapeutic composition is for providing thermal therapy in the form of hot therapy and cold therapy when the pouch is applied against a body part. The thermotherapeutic pack can have at least one strap and at least one buckle that co-operate with each other to retain the pouch against a body part during thermal therapy.

Abstract:
Plastic sheet can be heat-sealed to form a water-tight envelope having an open top. A water-tight frangible container can be loaded into the envelope through the open top. The water-tight frangible container can contain a predetermined amount of water. A predetermined amount of phosphate ammonium nitrate (PAN) can be loaded into the envelope through the open top. The relative proportion of the predetermined amounts of phosphate ammonium nitrate to water can be selected to provide a target cooling effect to a portion of a body to which cooling is to be applied. The open top of the envelope can be heat-sealed to form a water-tight outer pack.

Plastic sheet can be heat-sealed to form a water-tight envelope having an open top. A water-tight frangible container can be loaded into the envelope through the open top. The water-tight frangible container can contain a predetermined amount of water. A predetermined amount of urea can be loaded into the envelope through the open top. Separate from the loading of the urea, a predetermined amount of ammonium chloride can be loaded into the envelope through the open top. The relative proportions of the predetermined amount of urea, the predetermined amount of ammonium chloride, and the predetermined amount of water can be selected to provide a target cooling effect to a portion of a body to which cooling is to be applied. The open top of the envelope can be heat-sealed to form a water-tight outer pack.
Abstract:
There is disclosed composite container comprising a thermally insulated inner container disposed within a thermally insulated outer container. The thermally insulated inner container is configured to receive one or more phase change material (PCM) elements to define a payload enclosure. The one or more PCM elements are configured to maintain a payload disposed in the payload enclosure initially at −20° C. between 8° C. and −25° C., such as between 2° C. and 8° C. or between −15° C. and −25° C., for a period of at least 48 hours in an ambient temperature of up to 35° C. when tested pursuant to ISTA 7D Test Procedure. The composite container can be used to ship temperature-sensitive payloads such as perishable goods (e.g., a COVID-19 vaccine such as the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine).
