A cooling fan includes a cylindrical boss portion, a plurality of blades extending from the boss portion in a radial direction and a ring member integrated with radial outside edges of the blades. The ring member has an axial dimension smaller than an axial dimension of the blade at the radial outside edge, with respect to an axial direction of the boss portion. The ring member has an extending portion extending in a form of bell toward an upstream position of the blades with respect to an air flow. The extending portion is disposed such that a base point connecting to a body portion of the ring member is arranged in a range that begins at a point 25% and ends at a point 85% of a distance from an upstream end of the radial outside edge of the blade with respect to the axial dimension of the blade.

A vehicle cooling apparatus having a simple construction that enables the size of a cooling fan electric motor to be reduced without the need to increase the number of batteries provided for driving the motor. The cooling fan provides necessary cooling for an engine radiator and an air-conditioning system condenser by driving the motor at an input power lower than its rated power by a predetermined amount until the temperature of the engine cooling water reaches a predetermined temperature. If the water temperature rises above the predetermined temperature, the electric motor input power is increased to a level greater than its rated input power for a predetermined time period. As a result, cooling capacity can be increased and the water temperature can be lowered with a smaller motor when the water temperature has become abnormally high. Because the electric motor is normally driven at an input power lower than its rated input power, the life of the electric motor is increased.

A vehicle front end member including at least a radiator has an upper protrusion fixed to an upper insertion hole of a vehicle front end panel, and a lower protrusion fixed to a lower insertion hole of the front end panel. When an exterior force larger than a predetermined value is applied to the vehicle from a front side, a fixing state of the upper protrusion into the upper insertion hole is released, while a fixing state of the lower protrusion into the lower insertion hole is maintained. Therefore, is can prevent all the front end member from being separated from the front end panel when the exterior force is applied to the vehicle from the front i side. Accordingly, a damage of the front end member due to the exterior force is prevented while a collision of the front end member on a road surface is prevented.

A cooling unit includes a motor, a driving shaft, a first fan, a second fan, and a fan shroud. The driving shaft extends from the motor and is disposed parallel to a core of a heat exchanger. The first fan is disposed to oppose the core for generating air for cooling the core. The first fan has a first rotation shaft connected to the driving shaft through a gear such that the first fan is rotated by the driving shaft. The fan shroud is configured to support the first fan and conduct the air from the core to the first fan. The second fan has a second rotation shaft disposed coaxial with the driving shaft and rotatable with the driving shaft. The second fan is rotated by the driving shaft when the first fan is rotated, thereby to supply the motor with air for cooling the motor.

A drive apparatus for driving two motors by PWM control of respective switching elements connected to the motors, whereby respective control signals are applied to the switching elements such that each commencement of a transition of one of the switching elements from the non-conducting to the conducting state coincides with the termination of a transition of the other switching element from the conducting to the non-conducting state, thereby reducing generated electrical noise, and for supplying equivalent values of drive voltage to two motors of different power ratings which rotate respective cooling fans, to obtain equalized levels of air flow rate.

A heat exchanging system includes two cooling fans for cooling heat exchanging medium of a heat exchanger, and a control device for controlling rotational speeds of the cooling fans. The control device is attached to an outer surface of a fan shroud so that radiation fins of the control device is disposed inside the fan shroud. Further, the radiation fins of the control device is disposed between two fan accommodating portions each having a cylindrical shape. That is, the control device is disposed in a comparatively large space formed by two fan accommodating portions. Therefore, the control device can be readily attached to the fan shroud on a vehicle, and the size of the radiation fins can be made larger. Thus, the heat exchanging system cools the control device sufficiently while improving ventilation performance of the cooling fans.

A blower unit for generating air for cooling a heat exchanger includes a plurality of blowers, a single motor, a driving shaft, gears, gear boxes and a joint. The blowers are arranged in parallel with each other with respect to a flow of air passing through the heat exchanger. The driving shaft extends from the motor and is connected to rotation shafts of the blowers through the gears. The gear boxes house the gears therein and support the driving shaft and the rotation shafts of the blowers to be rotatable. The driving shaft is divided into a plurality of shaft parts in a longitudinal direction thereof. The adjacent shaft parts are connected to each other through the joint.

A blower includes two contrarotating axial fans located to be rotated reversely with each other in accordance with rotations of its rotation shafts arranged on an axial line. In the blower, a rotation drive shaft of a motor is coupled to the rotation shafts of the axial fans through a gear portion, and the gear portion is housed in a gear box. Each of the axial fans includes a boss portion having a recess shape opened in an axial direction of the axial fan, and a plurality of blades located radial outside of the boss portion. Furthermore, the axial fans are located such that the recess shapes of the boss portions are opposite to each other, and the gear box is located between the boss portions of the axial fans, and is covered by the boss portions from two sides in an air flow direction of the axial fans.

In a vehicle front end panel, a horn cover for defining a passage of sound generated by a horn is formed integrally with a panel body to which a front end member such as a radiator is assembled. Further, the panel body and at least a part of the horn cover are integrally molded by resin. Therefore, the horn structure including the horn and the horn cover is readily manufactured in a low cost.
