Abstract: A solvent containment and solvent handling process interlocking system is described that can be used as a ventilation and spill management system for the storage and use of hazardous and volatile chemicals and solvents in an ordinary or non-hazardous location. The vented solvent containment system has a containment tray for secondary solvent containment and air regulatory to supply negative air pressure to draw in any evaporated solvent from the containment tray to a safe exhaust location. A safety sensor in the solvent containment system is interlocked with the solvent handling and solvent control system to slow or stop solvent flow in the event of a potentially hazardous solvent leak.

Abstract: A cavitation mixing apparatus is provided for performing separations from solid material using subcritical liquid CO2. A cavitation inducing device inside a cavitation mixing vessel is held in place with a cavitation mixer mount comprising at least one fluid channel for equalizing gaseous pressure of CO2 around the cavitation inducing device. Also described is method of separating oils from a crude plant oil mixture by injecting crude plant oil into a pressurized mixing vessel comprising liquid carbon dioxide and mixing the crude oil with the liquid carbon dioxide under pressure using powered induced cavitation, the cavitation mixing vessel comprising an encapsulated cavitation inducing device.

A supercritical fluid pump is described having a piston assembly with a hydraulic cylinder and a cylindrical integral check valve piston with at least two circumferential seals to seal the piston against the barrel insert and a check assembly extending axially through one end of the integral check valve piston and between the at least two circumferential seals to relieve excess pressure.

Abstract: A preparative closed cycle supercritical fluid column chromatography system, device, and method of isolating high volumes of pure components from mixtures using a supercritical solvent. Bulk fractions of desirable material from plants can be obtained using supercritical fluid column chromatography with a chromatography column. A chemical sensor downstream the chromatography column detects chemical species eluted from the column and a plurality of collection columns collects the bulk fractions of product with a control system controlling the collection valves based on detection of chemical species at the chemical sensor.
