Abstract:
Compositions containing chlorhexidine gluconate solubilized in hydrophobic vehicles are described. Resin systems containing such chlorhexidine gluconate compositions, including adhesives and articles incorporating such resin systems, including medical articles such as drapes are also described.
Abstract:
Presently described are curable compositions comprising a mixture of at least one (e.g. free-radically) polymerizable ionic liquid and at least one other ethylenically unsaturated monomer, oligomer, or polymer. The polymerizable ionic liquid is characterized as having an air to nitrogen curing exotherm ratio of at least 0.70. Also described are articles and methods of making articles from such curable compositions. A monofunctional polymerizable ionic liquid is also described comprising a non-polymerizable substituted imidazolium cationic group and a polymerizable sulfonate anion.

Abstract:
The disclosed securement device for medical tubing has a polymeric film and adhesive. The polymer film has a first major surface, a second major surface opposite the first major surface, a first flat portion, a second flat portion, a formed bend between the first flat portion and second flat portion, the bend defining a channel, and a notch formed through the polymer film adjacent the bend and between the first flat portion and second flat portion, such that the notch is aligned with the channel. Then adhesive is on at least a portion of the second major surface of the polymer film.
Abstract:
A viscoelastic wound closure dressing. The dressing can include a viscoelastic backing having a first major surface configured to face skin when in use, a first end, a second end, and a middle section located between the first end and the second end. The wound closure dressing can further include a skin-contact adhesive on the first major surface of the viscoelastic backing adjacent the first end and the second end. A majority of the first major surface of the middle section can be free of the skin-contact adhesive. The viscoelastic backing can recover, at room temperature: (i) no more than 40% of its deformation after 10 seconds, after being strained to 50% elongation for 30 minutes, and (ii) at least 70% of its deformation after 48 hours, after being strained to 50% elongation for 30 minutes.
Abstract:
Compression sleeve (1) for application circumferentially around a human limb (10) to exert therapeutic pressure on the limb. The compression sleeve has a fabric (80), which comprises viscoelastic strands (90) for providing the fabric with viscoelastic properties.

Abstract:
A medical article and methods of using same. The medical article can include a machine direction (MD) and a cross-machine direction (CMD); a support layer; and a viscoelastic layer. The viscoelastic layer can be coupled to the support layer, and the viscoelastic layer can be discontinuous in the MD and/or the CMD. The viscoelastic layer can recover at least 70% of its deformation after 48 hours at room temperature after being strained to 50% elongation, such that the medical article has a first tensile stiffness T1 at a first strain rate S1, and a second tensile stiffness T1 at a second strain rate Si. The ratio of S1/S2 can be at least 100, and the ratio of T1/T2 can be at least 1.5. The method can include wrapping the medical article around a body part; applying the first strain rate S1; and applying the second strain rate S2.
